Hi, We were watching a TV show about this family that has 17 kids and one on the way. I believe they are living in Fayetteville. They are very, very old-fashioned and traditional, and I was wondering if they are unique in a place like Fayetteville or are there many very traditional families like that in the area. By traditional, I mean that the husband is the leader in the family, the children are homeschooled, and they must have chaperones when they date. Just curious. Thanks.

I live in the area. I believe they are unique. Others may hang around people like this. Are they Pentecostal?

They actually don't live in Fayetteville. I think they are in Tontitown. They do not represent the norm in NWA.

I have also watched this show as well. I also saw an episode where they had another family on as well that had 14 children (i think they were related in some way, but don't remember for sure)
They are old fashioned yes, some of it riding on their religious beliefs, such as the reason they have all of the children is they do not believe in birth control. But if they can care for all the children, and are happy, more power to them!

I used to think the Duggars were kind of weird, but not so much since I've seen them on TV. They actually seem pretty normal to me,but no way will I ever have that many kids! If they can pull it off, more power to them! That poor woman though! LOL.

They may not be typical of NW Arkansas, but they are by no means a bad reflection. They seem to have a good time.

Oh i think they are a wholesome family and all, I just sometimes think it adds to the terrible stereotype that Arkansas already has

The only people who hold stereotypes are the folks that never hit the highway and travel. People are people wherever you go. Of course, many people never travel outside of their corner of the world, and get all their information from the old stereotypes.
