There are to many things going on in this country to worry or in my opinion, waste your time on sports!
Pigs, Booze, Jesus!
Yea it is kind of disgusting, but when the stadium can fit the entire population of the small town it is in, you will not win that argument.

Well everyone has his/her passions and for many sports is it. I am saddened when I read something like you posted. It sounds like you don't enjoy life too much and take it too seriously, but maybe I am wrong. We all need outlets. For some it is reading, others TV, and for many of us, it happens to be sports and yes, the HOGS!!!

I will add, if you have never seen this kind of addiction, you haven't lived in Texas or California. So Ca breath Dodgers, or USA and UCLA football (at least many do) as well as the Lakers. It may not be as apparent because of the size of the state and the population. Texas thinks football ranks just behind God as to what should be worshiped, especially when it comes to the Cowboys. Ask people in OK, those living in OKC particularly how should one spend their weekends? The answer, Sat is devoted to football and Sunday church. Of course there are the Redskins flags in DC and NoVa in many front yards. They fly at 1/2 mast after a Redskins loss. (lots of 1/2 masts the last few years)

I could go on and on, but sports is very big for many. It isn't something everyone enjoys and that's fine, but it is very much apart of our American culture and offers us a diversion from the worries of our everyday life.

Nita

On game day someone should go down to the 50 yard line during a timeout, get on the PA system, and tell everyone how ridiculous the whole spectacle is. I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms...and closed fists.

Too bad you happen to feel that way. There's nothing like a crisp fall day and FOOTBALL. Tailgate parties, painted faces and loyal fans.

GO HOGS!!!!
Go Notre Dame!!!

can't go with your Notre Dame cause I am a huge USC fan. They are playing this coming weekend. I will try to be a ND fan for other games, you notice I am saying "try"

I agree but I've never been into team sports other than baseball but I can't watch that on tv...too boring. It does get old when everyone around talks about nothing but the Hogs and then looks at you funny when you tell them you're not a fan.

Oh come on. There are few things more exciting that college football gameday. The thousands of fans, the cheerleaders, the band playing, hot dogs and popcorn—what a great way to spend a fall Saturday afternoon. You should give it a try sometime. If you attended just one Hawgs game I’ll bet you’d be hooked for life as a fan.

there is a difference in being adicted and what he said. You don't have to be a sprots fan, but to say there are too many things in our country to worry about so we shouldn't waste our time on sports is a little strange I would say.
