Default Google Art Project

First off, WOW! I thought Google had already reached god status with their search engine and web browser and now this! This awesome site, Art Project, powered by Google lets you view artwork from museums around the world. And here's the cherry on top -- it lets you zoom in on paintings, it lets you zoom into an eye with perfect clarity, the subtle paint cracks and all, details one would normally lose when photographing artwork. I'm talking about works from the Rijks Museum people -- REMBRANDT!

Sometimes photography (with the right photographer) will pick up on things in a painting that aren't normally picked up with the human eye; but value and color are the two things that always seem to elude the camera -- so I don't think this great site from Google will tarnish the value of actually going to these museums.

Anyways, happy hunting.

WOW indeed I just logged on to post about this after spending some time surfing around.

Huge huge potential time-sink for the art lovers . Gives me hope though that google decided to tackle this. It says to me that YES, Art does still matter.

If Google decided for world domination, I would gladly comply. I do hope they add works from the Prado; spent nearly a whole day on that site.
