...and this is David Hallberg dancing in Bolshoy with Natalya Osipova in ballet Giselle

( His instructor here is no one else but legendary Vasiliev - a dancer who was in the video in the first post of this thread)

I'm not really into ballet, but I did have a chance to see The Nutcracker twice while in Russia...once in St. Petersburg, and once in Moscow. They were both amazing shows, as were all musical performances while I was there.

Aside from the ballet, attending performances for works of Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich...all while living in Russia was just absolutely amazing. I've seen a number of them here in the states as well, but seeing them in Russia was almost surreal for me.

Hope I'm not intruding your thread, here's a vid I'd like to show. Emil Gilels and Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G minor. I wish I could have seen him, what an awesome pianist. Just like the comment on the vid shows...

And I am not all that much in Rachmaninov ( although it was very impressive performance) - so who cares, welcome to this thread Puteshestvennik))))

I've found this recently; a very moving interpretation of "Death of Nikiya" in "La Bayadere" by Diana Vishneva performed in Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.

This is another young star of Mariinsky Theater - Ulyana Lopatkina.
I like how she talks about her life on stage, her perception of art and how she relates to it in this short movie. (English/French subtitles.)

PS. Nope, I take it back - both of these dancers are not that young for the ballet, the younger ones are yet to come to Mariinsky Theater...
