I'm reading The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro (9781616201326) and am LOVING it!

It's about the thefts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and about art forgery, and about painting techniques, and about artists' lives, and about gallery realities, and about making choices.

Highly recommended!

Two other fine art novels come to mind:

Girl in Hyacinth Blue Susan Vreeland
Girl with a Pearl Earring Tracy Chevalier

I enjoyed them both.

Any others you all know of??

If you want to get an idea of Bruegel try 'As Above, So Below'.. (Rucker)....Bruegel is great to give insight for his times. It's all there in his exceptional works.

And another I'd recommend, more like a study rather than a novel. Thought it was very good.. 'Sargent's Daughters' (Hirschler)
A good read on the background of Sargent's fine painting..'The 'Daughters of Edward Darley Boit'.
