I just recently managed to add 3 more Gehry buildings to my tally by taking in the Disney Concert Hall in LA & The Ray & Maria Stata Centre at MIT, Cambridge AND Frank Gehry's home in Santa Monica whilst on my recent trip to the states. Add that to the Experience Music Project in Seattle in 2008 and I'm working my way nicely through his work.
His architecture is both breathtaking and fascinating.
I'll also include Dale Chihuly whose genius I've had the priviledge of being swept away by on several occasions now and he still manages to make my heart swell and bring a tear to my eye with the sheer beauty and excitement of his work.
I didn't manage to get to the Phoenix exhibition BUT the video does showcase his work well. If I get a chance I'll hunt up some of the pictures I took of his sea form platform at Tacoma Museum of Glass and I think I also have pics of his Venetian Wall installation also on the Bridge of Glass.

We're really proud of Disney Hall. It is a breathtaking work. A co-worker of my sister has a condo almost overlooking it--very shiny! But I have to say I don't like the EMP in Seattle too much. Deconstructive, yes, but incoherent too, even if a certain jumble is still the point. There was nothing for me to connect to, and I stood across the street from it staring for a long time from different angles. I'd love to see the Bilbao.
saucy, love that eggplant alien! It's a painting and not digital?
I'll post Australian Buff Diss' masking tape art. I really despise the vandalism of graffiti. Public art/private property/public-private...bah. I've lived where my home was repeatedly tagged. It's not cool or fun and it is a presumption of ownership to deface someone else's space. While urban expression is meant to be ephemeral it can be thoughtful about the real consequences to real neighbors, not just serve the vanity of the taggers.
Buff Diss' guerilla masking tape is made to disintegrate. That makes its transitory nature part of its message. And it's a hellava lot more thoughtful and interesting (and cool looking) too.
I love her work. I do digital collage, so I appreciate her imagination and the time it takes to put these images together.
