Flagstaff monsoon lovers, I just started a thread on the general AZ forum about monsoon storms. I wanted to get a broad discussion across that state about the monsoon. Feel free to jump into that larger discussion if it interests you.

I really enjoyed today's monsoon storm. Nice warm day, punctuated with the crack of thunder and a really nice, lush feeling for the whole afternoon. Reminded me of home (Oregon), but with much better lightning!

Preliminary word is that this may be an El Nino year, so I don't know how that will affect our rainfall.

When I saw your other thread I was going to refer you to this one but I see you found it. lol I figured most of the answers you were looking for would be found here.

I think Flagstaff is about the most perfect place to escape the summer heat. It can get downright cold up there after a good storm when the temps drop.

What surprised me is how the weather in June and July seem to be absolute opposites. I was wondering if all or most Junes are so dry and most Julys so wet!

I agree about the heat. Don't even need AC (or a swamp cooler) here in July.

Yes, June is generally very dry and July is very wet! It's just part of the cycle.

You are experiencing a normal summer. If you live here long enough you'll come to expect it and, mostly, look forward to it. I have a lot of online friends who laugh their butts off at us because we get so excited about RAIN and thunderstorms. Most of them are plenty sick of both! lol But they had a pretty miserable winter so I can't blame them much.

I did turn my cooler on earlier today but turned it off a couple of hours ago. Windows open and nice breezes blowing through. What's not to like about our Monsoons??
