Parts of Southern Oregon might have what you're looking for.... there's some weird hidden economically depressed backwoods former logging towns down there. Look up Josephine County if you're unfamiliar. Even Southern Oregons, major hub city, Medford is considered somewhat conservative. Assuming you don't live in these parts already, I'd give them a look before committing to moving to AZ (or elsewhere).

But if you do choose AZ, there are plenty of rural conservative areas from which to choose from. Do some research. We have the Colorado River and Lake Havasu if you want to be near a large body of water.... don't know anything about fishing there. And no coastline in our land locked state (unlike Oregon) But these two bodies of water provide popular recreational activities for those interested.

You shouldn't choose "flagg staff", it has a fairly high Mormon population. Even within the LDS church itself, Flagstaff is considered "home territory" more or less.

I suggest you take a look at Kingman, AZ. Seems like your kind of town.

just saying...

Honestly though, Flagstaff is a liberal town in a conservative state. You'll find gun-toting rednecks there, but you'll probably enjoy places like Kingman or Apache Junction better.
