Real estate prices have gone nuts recently so it is tough finding anything new (3bed 2 bath 1500 sq ft) for less than 400 K. No way we will pay a quarter mill for a manufactured home. So option are limited. Am finding some in Cottonwood but not the altitude she needs. Don't care about politics or golf courses just hoping for good internet and medical care within an hour or two. Any updates on Payson or info on Flagstaff or Williams will be appreciated. Thanks
So...Payson. The best medical care will be in the Valley. The problem with housing...unless you want to build or want to drop $500k on a place in the country clubs, it is not going to be new and it will probably need some work. Reliable Internet is still a problem. Traffic is horrid on the weekends and right now they have 2 forest fires closing down any northern routes out of town.

If you want that elevation and reliable medical...have you looked at Show Low?

That was my thought, too. There's a regional 100-bed hospital in Show Low. And between Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside you ought to be able to find housing that won't break the bank.

Show Low also has way better restaurants than Payson, in my view. I love the trip up the Beeline Highway (AZ 87) to Payson but I wouldn't want to live there.

Fluffy & Kurt, thanks for the info. Haven't found anything in Show Low , but am not giving up. Not worried about traffic any day really. I am retired and can go grocery shopping during the week. The wife just needs a good Doctor, the ones here in New Mexico won't listen to a patient that has been dealing with her body and issues for a couple decades and just want to do their own thing. Anyway, thanks again for the info and will keep looking around the Payson Show Low areas.

Thanks for all the great info. We found a place in Payson. Just built in 2016 and about 100K higher than we wanted to spend but with the interest rates as they are now, it is possible for us without sacrificing everyday life as we know it. The medical being a little further out from town should not be an issue as she will make a day out of it if she is doing good that day.
Thanks again folks. Closing around the second week of Sept.
