Would everyone agree that WE the state citizens try our best to make money after the hurricanes and was the key reason for the price hike. Lack of housing, great demand for housing---demand and supply. Demand is the winning one and prices reach phenomenal hights. Now many that had to purchased a home due to necesity are having financial problems....

Do you agree or not?

There were many opportunities for me to sell and cash out, but I didn't want to become a sunbird and invade someone else's state. Taking a significant loss on 20 acres is worth it if I end up building and moving there and paying the low taxes I expected.

I agree. I lost a house to Charley in 2004. I don't understand it but the prices of houses went through the roof (for those of us who still had a roof) people were bidding / buying wrecked houses for more than they were worth before the storm. I didn't get that one at all.


A few miles further north, the housing prices were static but the rents zoomed. That part made sense.
