#6 Largo, FL - Article, Chamber
Largo has a population around 70,000. The city's golf courses and parks have a lot of room to breathe, and its citizens don't take that for granted. Largo is just a short drive from St. Petersburg and Tampa, and is just what most people think of when they hear the phrase "retirement community." The weather is dependably warm (with humid, tolerable summers), rain is infrequent and snow is unthinkable. Beachfront condos are surrounded by palm trees, and dozens of beaches are right around the corner.

Default Great things about Florida

1. Great weather ...much of the time. That's why people move to Florida! Here in north-central Florida we get hot weather from June through most of September. Spring is beautiful, Fall is fantastic, and winter is seasonal, but not too cool. We still get an occassional hard freeze, although not like the 1950s and 1960s used to be.

2. No State Income tax. There are still plenty of taxation areas.

3. A great variety of scenery, from Ocean to Gulf, rivers, creeks, gentle countyside, some fairly hilly areas for Florida. And we have plenty of green grass and trees!

4. Pretty good highway system, which makes cruising the county a lot of fun. I like to drive...motorcycles also.

5. Friendly people (for the most part). The natives of Florida are easy to get along with (for the most part). The problem is the "influx" Serioulsy, most Floridians are friendly people.

6. Lots of good country cooking. We still eat grits don't ya know?

7. Good seafood, and plenty of it. I love shrimp!

8. Thousands of Lakes, dozens of rivers, and hundreds of fresh water Springs.

That's a start....
Bill

REALLY???? WHERE are the good paying jobs?? I would love to hear about some good paying jobs in Central Florida. I have not seen very many in the past 4 or 5 years.

I went to an Alumini Association meeting and about 40%-50% of the graduates are currently unemployed.

Maybe you are talking about jobs in northern Florida and not South or Central FL. Cause really: the florida job market in orlando for anything that pays more than $10/h is.... well sort of non-existant in a lot of cases and usually un-available as we have way more people than jobs in FL.

Did I mention the high violent crime, high cost of insurance, high cost of living there??
