Hello, my name is Dhana. I currently live in Las Vegas and am moving to florida in August. I wanted to see if I could get some Floridians to help me out in pointing me in the directions of some descent, safe, yet affordable neighborhoods to look into for renting in the Tampa/Miami/ or a short distance drive to DW. I have 2 teenagers (16&13) so schools is a big plus also. I am a single mother and work in the medical field so being close in the medical vacinity would help to. Also, can anyone tell me how is the workforce going in Florida. Here in Vegas they have laid 100's of medical pesonnel off and unfortunately my time is up in August, but want to look for something now in Florida. I plan on visiting maybe next month and look at some of the areas I hopefully get referred to from people on here. I know noone there and that's really how I want it...like a start over period for me and my kids. I've seen a lot of cons for Florida, but I'm from Chicago so the humidity is not a factor and the cost of living in both Chicago and Vegas were up there..even though Vegas pay a lot more than Chitown. The bugs I'm sure are no bigger than the bugs here in Vegas. The people there definitly can be no more or less rude, hateful, unsocial, and ignorant than SOME of the people here. Traffic, well if I can deal with the jams in chicago and the reckless driving of Vegans, I can make it there. Any other cons? But its actually how a person makes their living situation anyway. Ending this...thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

A couple of points....

Orlando has that new medical complex going up at Lake Nona so that is something to look into.

Tampa/Miami/Orlando are all going to have a variety of housing options.

I would start with the job and pick schools and housing-in that order-from there.

It's hard to suggest specifics given your broad criteria since you don't know where you will be working.
