My hubby and I are now on our own, we are 47 and he is 55. The kids are gone and we are moving. We would like to know any information about the job situation there? We are needing a bit more of a laid back life style. My hubby is a contractor and we also have a small country store that we are giving up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am so nervous, we are starting all over again! Thanks!

Construction has pretty much grinded to a halt, especially in counties like Citrus where development soared over the past ten years, only to come crashing down when the bubble burst.

Things are pretty bad in Citrus County job-wise. The trouble with Citrus is lack of manufacturing and it's just outside a doable commute to larger metros like Tampa. There are some deals to be had and this would be a good time to buy a house, even some of the lakefront homes in my area are a good deal right now.

Your experience with a country store would fit this area well, I son't see any new ones opening but older ones aren't closing down either. Things pick up around here in wintertime when the seasonal folks get here.
