Post Toll roads, automatic increases

Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday that he signed a bill to let private companies build and operate toll roads because it would help end congestion on Florida highways, even though he didn't like a provision for automatic toll increases.

Is going to cost more to drive....

Crist said building more toll roads would give motorists the option of avoiding gridlock-free highways as long as they are willing to pay for that choice.

Pay toll for faster arrival?

The law will allow the state to lease existing toll roads, except for Florida's Turnpike, to private companies and let them build and operate new ones. Most leases would be limited to 50 years but could be extended to 75 years with legislative approval.
