Showed up in my studio today. I think it is a Nile Monitor about 4 feet long.

I think it is a lost pet. It looks pretty thin from comparing it to pictures on the net. I considered trying to grab is but better judgment won over.. It went out into the yard and I saw it again later in the day again so I guess it is staying around. I'm going to set a live trap for it tonight and see if I can catch it. I don't think it can survive on it's own, it seems domesticated. Stay tuned.

Not to sound mean, but do us all a favor and kill it. It doesn't belong in the wild here.

I think I should be able to trap it but from reading these things are dangerous. I looked at the picture I posted and the perspective is not very good. That thing is bigger then it looks in the picture and can easily kill a car of dog.
I was just reading this
Floridian: Enter the dragons

I will shoot it if I have to I guess but I would prefer to trap it, it seems friendly. Like I said I think it was someones pet.

Call animal control in your county and have them come out or even call the when it is in your yard and they will probably send someone out right away.

I appreciate your recommendation but those people are a waste of time. My trap is the same thing they would put out anyway. Plus with todays budget cuts I doubt I could get anyone to come. They would say hire a private trapper probably. Raccoons, Opossums, Iguana's, Foxes and so on they never come out. I have as little to do with bureaucratic idiots as I can. If it's still around I'll catch it, or shoot it.
