Default Spring Hill, Florida

Any fear of severe flooding in the Spring Hill, Florida area? We are planning to relocate soon from Pennsylvania. What about the job market - working part time. I noticed several "working at home" jobs. Are they legit? People tell us it rains EVERY DAY. Is that true?

My in laws have lived in Springhill for 28 years and it's never had a flood. Yes it rains EVERYDAY during the SUMMER months due to the high humidity we have in Florida. Get your outdoor activities done early in the day and you'll be fine. Plenty of places to work part time if your looking for a restaurant, shopping centers or any other stores. I'd question any jobs that advertise working at home. I work at home with my own transcribing business but any advertised job that requires you to pay up front to get started I would question.

Default No flooding and little effect from hurricanes!

Guys, when we got hammered in S. FL during last big hurricane (internet down 4 a month), my SO's parents had one whole day without electricity. Ours was out for seven days! That's one great plus for that area...their storms are minimal!

Flooding will be a problem only in very isolated areas.
No, it does not rain everyday, in fact we are lucky to get rain once a week right now.
The job market will depend on what type of work you are looking for. Most of the work at home jobs are a scam.

Wait a minute, I work at home. Not all the work at home jobs are a scam.

Default LOL Mike.

And "right", I've never seen any flooding in Spring Hill. Again, storms there are a breeze compare to other parts of the state.

Default Floods can happen...

It depends greatly on where you live. In 2003, we had flooding in areas that are prone to it. Parts of berkely manor flooded, lake teresa flooded, lake century flooded etc.. These were not life ending floods or anything like katrina, just localized flooding. The real cause was excessive rain, from 2002 -2003, we had over 70" in some areas. Hard to remember this given the drought we have had since then. I used to live on lake century, and the water there had risen over 16 feet and was within 10' of my house. I have pics to prove it. Luckily the water receeded, and now the lake is almost entirely dried up.

So do your research, and take what you hear with a grain of salt. I dont remember which has it, FEMA or the national flood insurance program, but they have a listing of every flood claim paid on a property and you can research to find out if a claim has ever been paid on a property. BTW, I have lived in spring hill since 88' and florida since 78....
