I'm Hispanic and my husband is egyptian and we are both against illegal immigration. It is supressing wages in America. I'm a conspiracy theorist and while i won't elaborate too deep, let's just say, i don't think any of this push to let illegals into this country is to help them. it is a plot to destroy the American middle class. Look at outsourcing of jobs. Look at real estate prices, health care, cost of living overall. And then you have more people coming in competing for the same jobs. All these illegals are not just working on farms picking produce. They took over the whole construction industry (construction workers in NYC used to make d*mn good money. Now you can pay a Mexican $10p.h. to do the same thing). They took over landscaping, all restaurants jobs, not just waiters but actual chefs. Go into a NYC 5 star restaurant and see who's cooking in the back. Anyway, it keeps going on & on. I don't blame the illegals for taking advantage of opportunities. I would probably do the same if i had to. But our government is not looking out for its citizens that are here legally.

But my question is: Why? What do they hope to gain by crushing the middle class? We have been carrying the country for generations. The rich won't, the poor can't so the country depends on middle class America to support the machine. Not to mention draining of natural resources. We never had so seruious a water restriction. Now it might become a regular thing down in S. FL. Why are they doing this to us?

I will add my theory to yours, NYLATINQT. They need these people to inlist in the armed forces. They need the numbers to fight the war. That's all I can see that might be worth sending the country down the tubes for. But I doubt these people would do so. They fled their own country, why would they be loyal to ours?

I agree with you....the difference being that I do blame the illegals and thebussinesses that hire them...forget the government they are self serving not servant's of the people...but most of all the AMERICAN PEOPLE are to blame....DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY PLACE,COMPANY,CORPORATION ETC.THAT HIRES MEXICAN'S..DON'T BUY PRODUCT'S FROM MEXICO...DON'T LET THEM CUT YOUR GRASS...DON'T YOU HIRE THEM EITHER..
I was an ironworker for 28 year's so I know about constrction..Any business that hire's a mexican and say's that an AMERICAN CITIZEN will not do the work and must hire them then don't do business with this person as they are only being self serving lik your gov.....Some one asked why is the gov. doing this to us????to put you on your knees so that there will only be the super rich and the super poor just like in mexico...why do you think these people are leaving mexico?

Most of the illegals where I am are actually from Haiti, though.

In Palm Beach County there are many stores operated by Hispanic owners who do not speak English. The whole city of Lake Worth is filled with illegal immigrants, and Lantana is as well. West Palm Beach has many illegals too.

My hispanic friends feel the same way about illegal immigrants. Even my gf who is Cuban and my best friend who is Mexican-American.

I'm Native American and as such, think you are ALL immigrants at one point or another. Brown-skinned people are NATIVE AMERICANS. White-skinned people are either immigrants or the descendants of immigrants. Yes, maybe your ancestors were "legal." Meaning RICH and WHITE-skinned.

So I think all anti-"immigrant" attitudes towards brown-skinned people, are out of line!

Oh, and I'm getting sick and tired of being asked where I must be "from" on MY OWN CONTINENT!!!

That is a new point of view, and a new twist on things.....
I guess us "rich white-skinned" people, get a dose of what happened to native americans so many years ago. We are being pushed out and under, and our own government is helping "them" (illegals) do that.
It doesn't feel good.....
But, it STILL doesn't justify, for people (iilegals) to disobay clear stated laws of the country!
No matter who it is, what they look like, and where they are coming from!
Rules are rules, laws are laws, and the legal citizens and immigrants well being, should come first and formost! ........and that ALONE is the driving force, no matter if it's happening in Florida, or anywhere else for that matter!

What makes America great is the fact that we do have a middle class. Most other places it's rich or poor. It's been that way most of history. So now it's starting to get that way here. We've got a long way to go but we are headed in that direction. The small percent of rich (and corporations that already run America) control the masses of poor. Our govt is trying to dissolve the borders, not protect them. They want to create a "North American Union" with Canada & Mexico. just great, huh?
