I know. I am going to apologize now. I am another poster thinking about moving to Florida. Sorry!

But I really do need some advice. The employment area. My husband is an RN and I am a Pharmacy Tech. We also have 2 children. By the time we are ready to move they will be around 8 and 6. We currently live in GA and are looking to move to Florida in a few more years. But I would like to go ahead and get an idea of an area to look. We are looking for a town with decent schools, low crime, and nice housing. We prefer to not live in a huge city! Right now we live in a smaller town and it so nice! We also prefer North FL within an hour from the Gulf or Atlantic.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Brittany

You'll need to think of at least a moderately-sized city as many small towns in in North Florida are not very developed and wouldn't offer any (or very few) job options. Schools typically are poor in the smaller towns as well. I would most recommend Tallahassee. It pretty much fulfills all of your criteria and is by no means "huge" (population 170,000).

If you still want a smaller town than that, check out Crestview. It's about 30 minutes north of the Gulf, and has excellent schools (Okaloosa County is one of the top-rated school systems in the state), as well as probable employment options in the Fort Walton Beach area.
