Default Best East Coast Beach City for Single Female?

Single professional female in my 40s looking for the best beach city on the East Coast to relocate to from Panama City Beach. I need to be somewhat centrally located in the state so I'm thinking from St. Augustine down through maybe Vero Beach. Need to be close to the interstates, in a safe area, not too commercial, not too expensive, to rent a house for me and my pets. Not concerned about schools or bars, but love festivals, good restaraunts, beautiful beaches and people who love the Ocean. I also don't want to be in a retirement community where there are no other single people. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Melbourne would be a good fit for you. It's a small city (80,000 or so) one hour east of Orlando on the coast. You have easy access to I-95, it's not over-commercialized (kind of "Old Florida" in feel), its moderately priced, pretty safe overall, has a population with an average age close to yours (around 40), one third of its residents are single, has some good restaurants choices, the beaches are beautiful (Cocoa Beach and Melbourne Beach especially) and they attract many to the area.
