This will be the 4th summer that we have lived here and when at one time I loved summer in CA I dread summer coming in FL.I fear lightning and the way they say on the news and on web sites you are not even safe in your home. You can't use the bathroom and it is a no no to use any electrical equipment. Stay away from doors and windows and on and on.Does anyone else have ths fear?

I love the heat but after three years you would think I would be use to it but I am not only getting worse. It didn't help that two weeks after moving here the 4 hurricanes came to welcome us.

I have no real fear but the dangers are real. My wife was almost hit by lighting in our back yard and it wasn't even raining yet. It split a tree right near where she was standing, People get hit on golf courses very often. My fear is lighting hitting the house. You see that quite often as well. When I am sitting in the house during one of those lightning storms I'm not very comfortable. I am always glad when it is over. Some of them are really something, we had one last week and they had a few gusts in Miami that measured 70 MPH.

Thatis one of the reasons we are looking to get out also. One of my dogs gets so upset that I have to hold her but the other two just hide. It seems starting in May I watch the radar on weatherunderground when ever I am about to wash my hair or use the bathroom.I watch weather on the 9's also and use NOAA also. This is no way to live.

I wouldn't mind so much if the storm would just pass quick but sometimes it goes inland only to come back our way again.I find if my husband is working it helps if I call someone just to say hi I do use my cordless phone or cell and that calmes me down a it but then the net day I start worring again and if they say 20% chance on the news I know we are going to get it but 50% most likly not. I did read that a man was killed by lightning when the sky was blue and no clouds last week. Weird.

Never had fear of lightning until I moved to Florida. I was riding on my bicycle one day when the storm clouds were in the distance, there were no rumbling sounds of thunder, no rain, and the sun was shining. Suddenly a bright blue flash. The lightning bolt hit the street light pole right on the other side of the street from me. I now try and avoid being outside when I see thunderstorms on the horizon.
