Default I Miss Publix Stores in Florida

I moved away from Florida several years ago but when I go back to visit my family, I have to stop by a Publix store - love the hot wings!

I LOVE their wrap sandwiches with Boars head meat...those are fabulous, my daughter loves their fried chicken as well.

When we have a birthday party for her, I always order her cake from them, they have a nice selection and the cake is never dry.

I have heard they have them up in Georgia as well.

Suncoaster will become famous soon enough
I like their Italian sandwiches with the cappy ham stuff. They'll make the sandwiches on regular bread if you ask them to. Up in GA, the store had BBQ wings, and honey garlic wings that were scrumptious.

Thanks, folks. I'll keep these in mind when I move next month. I'm about 5 minutes away from a Publix.

Publix is employee-owned; something that is a rarity these days & what I contribute to many of the good aspects of the store. I use to only shop at WalMart due to low prices & bigger selection, but I can only handle crowds & parents screaming at their kids who scream back at them for only so long....the extra $10 I spend at Publix is well worth it for it is never crowded, has a decent selection [love the chilled chicken tenders; makes dinner a breeze some nights] & most of the employees at the one we go to are very polite & helpful.

Frankly, before Walmart I rarely shopped Publix; it was always considered a more expensive store and I shopped Winn Dixie instead. After Walmart started putting a hurt on Florida stores, with Winn Dixie going through bankruptcy and Albertson's closing stores, Publix responded with some important changes. I now find it only slightly more expensive to shop Publix, and like the others, I find some of their offerings worth the difference.

I still shop Walmart, but my "other" store is now Publix, and I only hit the one remaining Winn Dixie or the one remaining Albertsons for their sales.

I love Publix - I drive 12 miles out of my way to shop there. I have discovered that it is NOT more expensive to shop there, especially since they run fabulous sales on many of the things I buy. Also, the customer service can't be beat, they give samples of everything and take your stuff to the car if you need help. By contrast, Kash & Karry converted to Sweetbay, and now they are ultra expensive, give NO samples, and NO customer service. Walmart is cheaper, but selections limited, and too many crowds and screaming kids as mentioned above.

Publix beats any grocery I have ever been to, I guess you could say I am truly a loyal customer. I also appreciate their efforts not only in providing more organic options including meats, but the fact that they are more "green" aware, conserving energy and recycling - admirable for a large grocery chain if you ask me.

So, KUDOS to Publix!

I have always loved Publix! Their produce and meat selection are great!

I remember being a kid and going by the bakery (when it was known as the Danish Bakery)...they'd give out free cookies. I think they still do it, not sure

When I moved to metro Atlanta, my biggest fear was that I couldn't find a Publix. Lo and Behold, they're here too!

After 19 months of living in a one grocery store (Piggly Wiggly) town, I almost shed tears of joy whenever I shop Publix, and they are literally 5 minutes away.
IMHO they can be more expensive, but usually not bad at all, and their sales are great. I won't drive too far to save money, but I do appreciate the opportunity to shop around. But Publix is the best: it offers excellent products and a very pleasant shopping experience.
One thing I do miss: in Port St Joe I could buy fresh local shrimp for 6 to 7 bucks a pound. Yesterday at Publix the local shrimp was $13 a pound! I think I'll need to go down to the docks at 4am or something.
