Brooksville. Def. Brooksville, FL!
Lots of acreage for cheap. Don't know about schools as I don't have kids in any.

Well considering 1/4 of an acre is going for $45,000 in my small town, expect to spend a lot of money just for the land and i don't live in or near a big city for the price to be that high. I would suggest North FL would be your best bet to find acreage. It is much more rural up there. The further south you go, the harder it will be to find.

North Georgia or Tennessee.
Sorry, couldn't help it.
Acreage at a reasonable price is getting pretty tough to find in Florida. North Central Florida is probably your best bet.

I agree. $45,000 for 1/4 acre in FL or $45,000 for 8.8 acres in TN. that's what i just bought.

Brooksville is in Hernando County where there is decreasing amount of acreage available because there are a lot of big developments going in. The next county up and over is Sumter County where there are still good buys for acreage. Look at counties in that region of central Florida.
Schools are generally quite bad in Florida. I know Hernando ones aren't at all good. In Florida, parents have to supplement the education the schools provide if they expect to have highly educated children. But then I believe a good part of the country is in the same boat because of the emphasis on spending the funds on those who do not value education.
