My daughter and I moved simply for a healthier, less hectic lifestyle. The guy I'd been seeing was from Tennessee, so of course I thought being closer to him would make things better.....NOT! My daughter and I, however, love the move away from Florida, enjoying the fresh air at night and being able to see the stars at night for a change. In the Tampa area it's not possible! C'mon with the rest of us, it's really worth it

Just a thought.
A lot of other states are more diverse then Florida and not like living on an island. They have spread out populations. I read I believe that 90% of Florida's residents live on 10% or 15% of the land. Florida isn't really that crowded just everybody want to live in the same places.

Hi, LUV.
You're welcome. Yes, I am indeed speaking of G-Ville.
As a fellow native who dislikes the heat, how DO you cope in SW Florida, with practically no change of seasons? I visited an aunt and uncle in Cape Coral, and cousins in Ft. Myers, early one March. The heat was already oppressive and unbearable.
O.K. Williamter, I fibbed. I'm actually moving to Western Oklahoma. Better?

I think many Floridians are filled with angry hate at their politicians and also insurance companies. You are on the verge of a revolution down there.

Default i am a native as well

as well as most of my family that has lived here for quite some time... as for those moving to tn (forgot who mentioned it), it is nice to look at for a while, but i betcha you'll miss things about fla when you get settled in in tn.

i lived in nc for a while, and i can appreciate the seasonal change, but i didnt like the cold weather. so it turns out, i really only liked the months of late arpil thru september. fla has just as many nice months ... only 3 months out of the year it is really THAT hot. i can also appreciate the less traffic and ppl, but i could find that in smaller towns all across fla. so we are back, and so glad we are back in fla. there is a reason why fla is the 3 or 4 most popluated state in the u.s.

fla also has better jobs, more diversity, the beaches, better looking women, and more things to do than the tn/ga/nc's...just my opinion, but you would probably find this to be accurate

Now that you mention this our friends were just in Destin on vacation - parents, kids & grandparents - the whole gang...they've been living in Nashville for a few years. Supposedly they' had it here (& this was before the ins. or real estate mess), but just can't wait to come down every year - they miss it. That's two on my side..my sister in law whom doesn't want to go back to N.Y. and then these people. Weird huh??

Sure there are lots of good reasons to stay in Fla and lots to leave. The most compelling negative that hasn't been mentioned yet is that the most pleasant months of the year are also have the shortest daylight hours of the year. Frankly I'd prefer some long lovely summer days to short mild winter days. However, if you can't get enough of the July-September heat, humidity and hurricanes, Fla is the perfect place for you.

I've lived here 41 years and Fla has changed so much in my region I don't recognize it, so I may as well go somewhere new.

As for states we're considering, in the southeast eastern TN, northern GA, western SC and NC. In the west CO, OR and WA.

No place is "Eden" but I'm ready for a change.

I left South Florida for West Metro Atlanta back in 2003. I'm a teacher and I make more here and I can actually own a home in a decent neighborhood on my salary....and even have money left over to save.

Unlike Florida

Wow! I though I was the only one that dislikes Florida. Florida was a great, beautiful and reasonable place to live 10 years ago, but it has change alot and it's not good. I'm also ready to relocate, so I'm moving to Massachusetts in the summer. Yes, the cost of living is higher but yet the salary would be higher for me (financial field). I know it is going to be expensive , but if I am going to be poor I rather be poor elsewhere. I use to be middle class, but now I am flat broke because the cost of living is killing me here. Recently my rent went up by $300 a month and my pay increase was only 2.9 %.
Reasons for moving: The recent increase in violent crimes, I-4, too commercialize, construction everywhere, traffic on weekdays & even on the weekends, huge population , lack of mass transportation and free highways, lack of educated people, lack of high paying jobs, lack of professional sports, lack of cultural events and history, 6 months of heat and humidity, lots of rude and superficial people, overrun by Wal-Mart and theme parks and the local officials are too busy catering to the tourist.
Reason not to move: Warm weather year around. ~The end.

You have been here for 10 years and managed to go broke while everyone else was riding a boom? You should have bought something years ago and you would be leaving here with a few hundred thousand in your pocket. Interest rates have been dirt cheap, I don't think Walmart, toll roads or all the uneducated people you refer to has anything to do with you being broke.
