What are naysayers ? Is it like people that drive cars with a big L on the front?

Default Quality of Adams Homes

I have another question, then. Since some people are pleased with their home and others greatly displeased with home and customer service, could it not have a lot to do with location? If each division of Adams Homes has different managers or superintendents who choose contractors on their own, doesn't that leave a company with the chance of having a wide variety of quality, or am I understanding the construction system incorrectly.
For instance, let's say that Tampa Division uses XYZ dry wall and Lakeland uses ABC drywall. XYZ Drywall is a good company and does a good job. ABC Drywall is a cheap company and does a bad job. Therefore drywalling in Lakeland is worse than Tampa, making for a cheaper house. I know that is no excuse for a company, just wondering if that could be the case.

You are absolutely correct, can happen. As I mentioned before the buyer or new owner needs to do research. If I'm spending any amount of money in a house I want to know how the house is going to be build, what type of materials are they using, the warranties from the materials, etc, etc...

Now a good communication between the builder and buyer is key to any process. I listed their warranty below, if you know what is going on with your home at the time of the construction great, if you don't know; better get smart soon.

Again read you coverage:

Coverage

During the first year of the warranty period on your new home will be free from:

* Defects in materials and workmanship, defined in performance standards attached to your warranty, except defects in appliances, fixtures and equipment which are not covered by the warranty.
* Defects in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as defined in the performance standards including the wiring piping and ductwork portions of the systems.

During the second year of the warranty period on your new home will be free from:

* Defects in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as defined in the performance standards including the wiring, piping and ductwork portions of the systems.

Major Structural Defects

The warranty also provides for major coverage for Major Structural Defects, which occur during the ten-year term of the warranty. Subject to the limits provided by the Warranty, BBHWA will repair or replace a covered major structural defect or pay the home buyer the reasonable actual cost of repair or replacement. Repair of the major structural defect is limited to:

* The repair of damage to the load bearing portions of the covered home, which is necessary to restore its load bearing ability.
* The repair of damage to the load bearing portions of the covered home, which make the home unsafe, unsanitary, or otherwise unliveable.

BBHA is responsible to you, the Homeowner, for total liability of all Major Structural Defects arising during the ten-year term of coverage. Liability is limited to the amount of coverage not to exceed the original purchase price. Repair and/or replacement do not extend to the Warranty Term.

A “Major Structural Defect” is actual physical damage to load bearing portions of the home. The actual physical damage must affect the load bearing function to the extent that the home becomes unsafe, unsanitary or otherwise uninhabitable and the repair will be limited to ensure only that the covered home is restored to a condition approximating the condition just prior to the defect, not to a "like new" condition.

For complete information on the Warranty, ask your Adams Homes representative for a copy of the Warranty Agreement.

Not sure if you are being facetious or not fire, but to me, naysayers are the one's who must constantly complain about something, for the sake of complaining, under the guise of "awww shucks, I'm just trying to help mankind w. my lil ole post".

By the way, I like Lexus people, but my car as a blue, white 'n black propellor symbol on the front, and her teutonic design/build quality/performance, is second to NONE.

I'm not saying that Florida will be the be all/end all for everyone that comes here. Peeps have to decide that for their own lives. I'm just saying, that for me 'n my family, Florida has been one hell of an interesting ride so far.

Peace!

With such a mass builder, I would assume that is the case. The Adams Homes in the Deep Creek section of Punta Gorda are a cheap lot of homes. There is a new Adams Homes development in Punta Gorda where the homes are nicer but almost on top of one another; doubt one would need to mow their lawn b/c there isn't any space b/w the homes nor much in the front or back. Homes have a little more curb appeal than the ones in Deep Creek.
Just glad we don't have to buy here or anywhere in SWFL; disappointed with what one gets for their $$.

We bought an Adams home and moved in a month ago. So far the experience has been good. We bought the house in March and immediately went back to Ohio to sell our home there, so we were not here for the walk throughs. We finally moved down here in July and Adams has been great about handling any of our problems. They immediately have the subs come to fix any woodwork or dry wall repairs that we have found. The house quality is commencerate with what we paid. Of course you can get much more in a custom built home but we certainly could not afford that luxury. Our new home is spacious, and Adams has been great to cover any warranty issue we have come across. There are different teams in different areas but here in Punta Gorda, Adams has been great!

Default No Problems Here

My husband and I purchased an inventory house from Adams Homes. It's in a beautiful subdivision and we got an oversized very large lot. Price was incredible. When we did the walkthrough, the rep. from Adams noticed things that we overlooked and was kind enough to point them out to us! That was big, I 've dealt with some shady home builders in NY, so this was a nice retreat from that. Not only did he find discrepancies, but by the 2nd walk through 2 weeks later, everything had been fixed perfectly. He had the entire house and windows powerwashed for us, the house was immaculate when we moved in. He even told us where he lived (down the road in another Adams Homes Subdivision) in case we ever needed anything. They paid our closing costs for us, almost 10,000. No scam there. We are very satisfied with Adams Homes and would recommend them to anyone. Because we bought the inventory house it came with the basics, but little by little we are upgrading. That wasn't a big deal for us. I know some might want to move into granite counter tops and marble floors, but that wasn't what we needed at the time. I hope this helps, it's just one opinion.

Adams Homes also has a bad rep in our area. I would not recommend them.
Many owners find them to be sub-par on quality and workmanship.
