I'd be happy to buy/build an Adams 3,000 sq ft house with a pool here in SW Fla OR on the east coast since they'vye been advertising $70/ft. I need 2 lots or an oversize lot that works out to at least 1/3 acre. MUST be in an area that has Comcast Internet and that point is not negotiable.
We want the lanai room also build which will add I think a room that is 25 feet long by 10 or 12 ft wide. Then a covered lanai and a screened in pool. ( The called them "caged" on the west coast. Strange)
PM me if you can help and we'll put you in touch with our realtor here if it appears too complicated.
Will consider other areas too but the price still stands for the building. We'll also need to contract with someone to do tile, add a fireplace, remove the stupid columns etc etc.

To the person in Northeast Florida
I honestly believed I had problems, until I read your review! I simply cannot imagine how Wayne Adams stays in business, especially in this newer market, where home buying is at a minimum!
They are still trying to sell several homes already built here in Punta Gorda, Florida, including their model home we saw initially; but so far they have had no success there. For weeks during the summer months, they actually had young people standing on corners in our neighborhood with signs for Adams Homes liquidations, and sold many homes this way.
There are four Adams Homes just on our street, and all have had many problems since moving in.
It is very unfortunate that all this time and effort to express the problems home owners are having with the quality of Adams Homes in this forum, has absolutely no bearing on the results home owners receive in correcting their problems; with such a cheap and unethical builder!
Good luck to you and all who have made the tremendous mistake of purchasing an Adams Home!

Response to NJ Beach Girl
I just read this post, we purchased our home in central FL. We were and still are thrilled with our home. Contrary to a lot of these posts, we absolutely were able to bargain with the price and we won out with the lowest bid and our closing costs were all paid for. Again, the houses are basic, but you cannot expect to get top of the line everything for under 300,000. You must be realistic. We would've loved granite and tiles and the best rugs, but we knew at the price we purchased for it wasn't happenin' and anyway, I want to do things my way on my time and budget so slowly but surely we can upgrade and make our home our way. Good Luck on your search.
-Still Thrilled in our Adams Home-

I would take a brick home over a block stucco anyday. For one thing, most classic homes at 200 years old are BRICK. Block is more pouris and not a good insulator. 99% of homes have roofs framed from wood. In a hurricane, what goes on a home? The roof! Check this link out on Adams Homes....the homes withstood Katrina! Oh, and all block homes are framed as well....and the 2 story homes all framed with wood on the top floor. I had a great experience with Adams. People were wonderful. Home is amazing. I have the 3000. The floor plan is better then anything Ive seen out there. very open, with a nice flow. Good luck. Adams Homes
I can tell you Adams Homes is building beautiful all brick homes in Ocala Florida and now offers corian, granite, silestone countertop, ceramic tile on floors and frieze carpet, also wood kitchen cabinets with crown molding and stainless steel appliances, also they build a 2 story home and block and stucco. these homes are wonderful and they are built with better quality than most custom builders. So if you are thinking of buying a home with great value and quality, look at Adams Homes.

Lets look at all the builders
Adams Homes has built over 20,000 homes in its 15 year time. Unfortunately, like any business, there are going to be some situations where you just cant please someone. Obviously, some of the issues in this thread seem to be legit, but there are always 3 sides to a story. 1) the customers, 2) the builders, and 3) the truth which typically lays somewhere between the two.
I challenge anyone to find a builder that has built as many homes as Adams, and has this few complaints. Adams stands behind their product. Just because they dont offer numerous upgrades doesn't make them a "shotty builder who cuts corners". Many of Adams buyers are thrilled with their homes because they got a lot for their money. Adams is by no means the builder for everyone and has never claimed to be. Every good business knows their niche and sticks with it when its working. Adams provides a well built home at an extremely competitive price. Just for the record, a few people mentioned in the post that homes are being unloaded to please stockholders. I believe you should do your homework!!! Adams Homes is solely owned and not a publicly traded company. I have lived in my Adams Home now for 4 years, and rode out Hurricane Charley inside it. The home is .25 miles from Charlotte Harbor where the storm entered land. The eye of Charley passed directly over the house and I had $1000 in damage, primarily due top older homes around disetegrating and the pieces then hitting mine. Other builders in the community cant claim the same. Research other builders with the same volume and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Still in Business
I can tell you in our area of Ocala, Adams Homes is still building beautiful homes and offering more and more upgrades not only as standard but also things like granite, and silestone countertops, some of the biggest builders around have gone out of business here like Lennar and WCI, and a few others now their customers have no one to go to if there is a problem. At least Adams is here and doing what they can in this slow market to improve our area, and they have great response from people who have purchased their homes. So for all those who are complaining maybe you would rather have a custom builder who goes out of business, what does that say. I would live in and recommend and Adams Home to anyone.

Adams Homes imput from Zigge
I think it's wonderful that Adams Homes is still in business, and giving wonderful upgrades, that I was not priviledged to partake in. We had absolutely no upgrades offered, with the exception of tile and a fireplace, which we have found so necessary in Florida!
Personally for me, for Adams to wait to offer upgrades that were and still are standards with other builders in Southwest Florida is abhorent and insulting to me and my dollar. I am certain I paid much more for the square footage in my home eighteen months ago, than you have currently! We have the cheapest countertop, the smallest kitchen sink I have ever encountered in a home, which by the way, had no model to look at, at the time of purchase, the cheapest toilets, fawcets and bathroom countertops of anyone in this area. Yes, Adams is still here! How wonderful that during a depression, when my dollar is worth much less than eighteen months ago, Wayne Adams has decided to give more to new home buyers, than in April of 2007! How wonderful that in Ocala, people are getting more from Adams for much much less!
I guess you would recommend Adams Homes, with everything you say they are offering today, but what about the people like me, that were absolutely ripped off by Wayne Adams? What about us? I am certain, that if Adams Homes was in Ocala in April of 2007 and you were purchasing a home in that period, you would be singing perhaps a much different tune today!
