I will give some advice to all. Most builders can provide a quality home if WE as customers take an active role as mentioned before. I purchased a home 11 years ago and no problems so far. BTW the house was a model home with some upgrades and some cheap stuff. But so far I'm happy with my investment.

I worked for them and owned their homes, even before I worked for them. No they dont offer upgrades, you wouldnt be able to afford the house if they customized it for you. Where else can you get the size of home they offer with the exterior just like any other builders if not better. Carpet gets dirty and worn no matter how much you pay for it, faucets get dated, knobs get upgraded year after year. Also, they offer a structural warranty, many companies do not but dont tell you that. This is a privately owned business, not a large public corporation. I would recommend them any day in any location. After all in 15 years the structure is what you want to last, upkeep is necessary for all homes.

I had a custom home built for the same price pre square as an Adams would have cost but I did alot of shopping my plans around and found a great builder that was somewhat new to the area.
I have no problems with Adams, they are a decent mid price range builder and I have heard no serious complaints about them.
Sunrice gave the best advice for when you are having a home built, keep on top of things yourself, it can make all the difference in the world.
I had only commented earlier in the thread because it seemed 2 of the posters registered just to back up Adams and they just didn't seem kosher.

Mike;
what do you think of Stanley Homes? We interviewed them back in June. We would rather not live in Palm Bay, I think they build in Melbourne.
any thoughts.

I am on the west coast and Stanley is only over in that area so I have never heard of them.
You can try a search of the forum for Brevard Builders and see what you come up with.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

To Former Adams Homes Employee
Yes, the quality of the structural portion of our Adams Home is so spectacular, that the stucco is literally falling off the house in chunks, on all sides of our home! They also left ten nails in the left and right side of our home, which proved to be a real problem with removal.
All in all, I am extremely tired of hearing about both the negative, as well as the very questionable positive comments, regarding Adams Homes. Our experience is our experience, from employee's lying to us, from the inside lack of quality of the home, to the outside falling apart.
Why would anyone take the time to write about these things, if it were not true. We have absolutely nothing to gain!

Where can I find the name and address for an officer at Adams Homes? All I can find is a "contact us" on their home page. We bought our house one year ago in Sebastian, FL, and the stucco is pulling away from the front of the structure! When my husband and I finally got a response (after several calls to the local office) we were told by the production manager named Steve, "uh, yeahhhh... that's not structural and you're out of warranty." When I asked for the name of someone higher up to contact he said, "uh, yeahhhh... they'll just send it back to us" implying "and we'll do nothing about it".
This house is THREE YEARS OLD and has stucco pulling away from the front peak area! It may not be structual, Steve, but it certainly speaks to shoddy construction. In this market I'm not sure that is what Adams Homes wants to be known for.

Have a contract on a Adams home in Alabama. Did a site visit this weekend and found shoddy HVAC installation, pay attention to everything before you close and get an inspector if you don't know what your looking at. On the positive side they said eveything will be corrected and replaced prior to closing. Stay tuned, we'll see what happens.
