It's Raining Again.....
Is anyone else getting loads of rain this week? It has rained hard every day this week at my house. I've already had to let water out of the pool twice. I'm ready to enjoy a couple of days of Florida sunshine before I head up to the mountains - but we have a 50-60% chance of rain here in Orlando for the remainder of the week. Whine...Whine...Whine..... How spoiled am I!!!

I have to tell you, this is the first normal weather we have had in years. This time of year it always rained in the afternoon you could set your watch by it. I like the afternoon rain, it cools things off makes things grow in general is nice, I like it.

Yeah, I know. I don't mind the late afternoon rains...I'm used to them. But I'm talking all day drizzle and floods of rain off and on all day. Tuesday afternoon we got 3 inches in 1 hour. Channel 13 in Orlando reported an area just south of us in Osceola County that got 7.7 inches in that same hour! If it keeps going like this, we will be flooding. We already have a few inches of standing water in the low lying areas of the woods behind our house.

We had rain for the 4th
but welcomed it. We are in a drought (S. FL) and have water restrictions so more rain is needed to get our levels back up.
CA is really suffering. Hot temps, smog and water restrictions. Yuck!! Then again, that state is WAY over populated.

Can ya send some of that down to Sarasota?
We did get a burst right before the fireworks, last night, but we are so ready for rain it's not funny.....our out of town owners on LBK keep telling me that they say rain all over Florida & I have to keep telling them it's a conspiracy theory....as in don't believe everything you see/hear....my friend just came back from N.O. and she said they're still excavating bodies....hmmmm?

I was told by a friend a while back that they have been looking forward to a serious drought in south Florida for a while. What it did was give them an excuse to enact water restrictions they have been wanting to do in general. Now it seems he was right. They are saying in Broward county we will be on a permeant water restriction from now on to some level, I got a note in the mail from the city. They didn't want to just try to do it out of the blue people would get pi$$ed. I guess kids just playing in the sprinkler and Slip-N-Slides will be a thing of the past.
Don't ever knock rain in Florida though, we always need it. The problem is they need a way to manage it properly. It is actualy a resource though, but we are not supposed to have neighborhoods flooded out from an afternoon shower. They need better sewer systems and need to maintain them. I get really angry when I see the city workers, the biggest offenders, with their blowers just blowing grass cuttings, dirt and everything else along the gutter like the sewer is some kind of disposal. They need to enact fines for yard people and their blowers that clog up our sewers. This is actually a real problem that needs to be addressed in most cities. It is no different then illegle dumping.

I have seen about 10 minutes total of rain in the last 2 weeks. It gets dark and the thunder rumbles but it refuses to rain.

Its rained every day (hard) for the last 3 weeks in Texas and flooded in the north. I don't remember it ever being like this. We usually have the conserve water stuff ..on the good side, my water bill was 31.00! No using the sprinkler system!

Central Florida is getting a good soaking. I can't keep up with draining my pool - it'll have to wait until this current rain activity dies down a little. This is more than just your typical afternoon showers. We've been getting heavy rain 2-3 time per day for the last week. Not that I mind, we still need it, just not as much as we've been getting. I haven't had to run my sprinklers for nearly two weeks.
Has anyone noticed how "cool" this summer has been so far? It seems to be really mild compared to past summers. I know we still have most of July and all of August, but so far I don't think it's gotten past about 93 degrees.

Mac, I believe what you say is true. They do want a year round restriction...the creeps.
