I am in Wakefield. Basically, the seacoast area, Rochester, Dover, Portsmouth. It is beautiful in Wakefield where I live but there really isn't anything else besides. Between Rochester and Conway there is a whole lot. A nice place but. ..

What area are you from?

So you must like Florida? It is a very hard decision. I don't really have much extended family to hold me back though. That is not really a problem cuz we are already so spread out.

I am more just concerned about a job and renting a place for my family and dog.

Are you in the Spring Hill area. My husband and I were in disagreement as to where Spring Hill was located and I went on mapquest and found four Spring Hills, located in different counties in Florida. Is this right?

I am from Northern N.H. small town called Berlin north of Mt. Washington. I moved down here without ever being out of the state of NH so i got to FL blindly not knowing what i was coming to. My family is all still in Berlin. I visit once in a while but they like to come down here for vacation instead. I have enjoyed my time down here but i think i'm ready for a change again. We just bought some land in TN this past March and plan to move there in a few years. I miss having the 4 seasons and the summer heat is a killer for me. i can't stand the heat and humidity. Springhill is about 30 minutes from me. We're located on the West central coast of FL. Springhill is about 45 minutes to 1 hour north of Tampa. On Mapquest, just follow the Veterans Expressway and that goes right through springhill so you always have easy access to Tampa if you want to make big money. I don't recall any other Spring Hills in FL but i could be wrong. If your talking about the one just North of Tampa, that's the one I'm talking about.

Default Spring Hill

There really aren't any BAD sections in Spring Hill, there is the area of Mariner Blvd where Spring Haven Apts. are that has had a couple of shootings, a drug bust and domestic battery, these are afordable housing units, same goes for the apts. next to Target on US19, a few problems in there also
but these were put up to be afordable for police/fire/teachers and there is a income level that must be met.

Now over in Brooksville, there are the subs, and you want to stay out of there
shootings, drugs, people getting killed. After being here awhile you will learn where to go and not go.

Waitress jobs are all over the place, there are enough restaurants that you can get a job easily. Of course, the turnover is great, because everyone wants to made big $$ and you have to remember there are alot of seniors here they order a Spring Hill special, which is water with lemon and get there for the early bird special of $4.99, they tip $2.00 and that's about it. Its better when the snowbirds are here, the restaurants usually are filled by 4:30 and there is money to be made. In the summer, it dies......I personally know a friend who worked at 7 to 3 shift this past week and made $20.00 for the day, it didn't even cover her gas to get there and she had to pay a babysitter to watch her kids.

Hope this helps

Spring Hill is Horrible. I have been here for 2 years and have been robbed 4 times. The last time they took my 300 gallon Propane tank used for heating my pool..in broad daylight.. There is nothing to do for kids except hang out in the Sweetbay and Winn Dixie Parking lights. The majority of people who live look like they can be on Americas Most Wanted. The "nice" ares of Sterling Hill are drug infested b/c 90% of the homes are rented. I know several people who have moved here and the left within 6 months. I supposedly live in the nicer area of Spring Hill and it is awful . I would suggest coming down here and drive down spring hill blvd and get a feel for yourself. It is not what you are expecting at all. I am in the process of leaving..

Hope this helps a little...

I would really recommend NOT moving here!!!!!!!!

Default Grow Houses

I hate to be so negative, but, within the last three weeks the sheriffs dept. has done 3 busts at grow houses here and in Brooksville, one home was on Spring Hill Drive, with the pink garage near Arbuckle Ave. Morgan Lane North of Brooksville and the other location I can't remember. BUT, as I've stated before DRUGS are a hugh business here in Hernando Cty. I don't make up the stories that are in the local newspapers. I have spent some time over at the courthouse on one day, with 93 felonies being heard, Judge Rushing was perplexed as what to do with some of these offenders, there were dealing drugs/thief/stolen checks/attempted murder/dui's etc. and with 9 judges hearing cases in 6 courtrooms, nearly 1,000 cases in one day. Crime is an issue here, because of lack of jobs or people being just lazy and not wanting to work, they steal/rob or grow pot.

Seriously, before making a decision, come visit Spring Hill, follow the for sale signs/for rent, out of 4,000 homes and approx. 1,500 in foreclosure, you can have your pick of any neighborhood to live, but be forewarned, there have been 8 robberies on my block since Aug. and a deputhy lives three door down.
Schools are OK, some better than others. Lots of service jobs, and of course the new JCPenney on Commercial Way (US19) will open in 2008, and a Cracker Barrel also will be on the outparcel. A new hotel is coming in next to the old Rex so jobs will be available there. HuddleHouse???? possibly next to hotel.

Again come visit, see if this is where you want to raise your family, the last three posters aren't wrong in their testimony.

Default Things aren't any better in S. FL, In fact worse...

Just last week a mother and daughter were tied up, robbed and shot in the mall parking lot...and that was in an affluent part of town. Growing pot is nothing compared to carjacking and murder.
