Rex is an electronic department store, sort of like Circuit City.

An outparcel is a piece of land that is away from the main part of a strip shopping center. Usually it is close to the road. Many banks and fast food places are located on outparcels.

Huddlehouse is like a Waffle House restaurant.

The hotel and restaurant will not be coming to that location.

The location was not going to work for the Huddle House so the hotel backed out also.

Now about crime in Hernando County.

Yes, there is crime. There is no place in the world without crime.
The crime level is very low comparitively speaking.
I just ran a search on the Clerk of the Court website and there were 236 records newly filed between 12/1 and 12/15. That includes Felony, Misdemeanor, Criminal Traffic and Parking Citations. Seems that the person who claimed 1000 cases in one day may have been a bit off since I came up with 236 over 15 days. That works out to 15 a day, no where near 1000.
If you would like to see for yourself just go to the Hernando Sheriff's website and search arrests. I searched yesterday and came up with 20, 5 were for violation of probation, 2 for driving with a suspended license and 5 were for the same person. Not exactly the crime plagued town some would have you beleive.

I have lived in Hernando County for a few years now. I am very happy with the schools, the crime in my neighborhood is almost non existent and I have very freindly neighbors. You will find those that don't like it just like anywhere else and it is not a big party town but a good place to raise a family.

Another example of why researching is key if you are planning on relocating regarless of location.

Rex is a TV/Electronics store, that was right next to Home Depot on US 19N, they closed a couple of months ago, the Huddle House is a pancake house similar to Waffle House, the Huddle House's that are being built locally, one in Brooksville/Pasco are owned by a lady that works for the state as a nutritionist, she prides herself on the fact that her restaurants will cook better foods for all concerned. She is trying to build a restaurant across from Outback Steack House, where the new hotel will be built eventually. I'm close to the owner of the land in question so I know that the hotel is a definite.

Default Mike

I'm talking about cases heard in court, not the stats that are printed in the papers. These are cases heard on Dec. 6th, with 9 judges in six courtrooms hearing anything from attempted murder(the walker) drug dealers (15 yrs)
violation of probation, forgery, stolen checks, DUI's, driving with suspended lincense (well over 30 people), robbery. Judge Rushing heard 93 cases on 12/6/07, Judge Scaglione heard well over 100 as did each and every judge hearing court that day. You got your figures of people arrested, your figures are probably correct, what I'm saying is CASES HEARD that date back to Aug. 2007 and before only being heard on Dec. 6th. In fact, because of overcrowding in several courtrooms, only defendants were allowed in the courtroom. I and my family were in the courthouse on Dec. 6th, I spoke with several deputy's and they were the ones telling me there were 1,000 cases that particular day. Have you ever gone over to the courthouse and sat and watched what goes on, its a eye opener when you claim there's no crime, just take a hour and sit in the courthouse and you'll see for yourself, just in misdemeanours how many go to court on any given day, at least 144 a day, and the courtroom only holds 77 people.

Arrests are a far better indicator than court appearances. When someone is arrested they may go to court 10 times before they even go to trial.

Does this mean a crime was committed 10 times? No it means someone went to court 10 times.
Add to that the fact that most courts are closed on weekends, so yes you will get some days that the courts will be backlogged with as you showed us well over 30 people in for driving with a suspended license amoung other offenses.

Arrests and offense reports are the important indicators not the fact that due to our judicial system many of those arrested are able to bog down the system.

Fact is, crime is not bad in Hernando County. I cited facts to show that.

Default From below the bench Hernando County

Mike vs SongBird.......
interesting case - who is right - unresolved case?

Seems that someone wants to make Hernano - Spring Hill look good.....
Seems someone knows that problems are a brewing in the county........

Me....... would seem that song bird has a more realistic handle...........
0n my last "look and see" to the court house 9 judges, average calandar
90+ cases for the day comes to mucho crime........ glad I don't sit on that load.............. about 800; is a lot of minor crime, and enough major
I go for the singer not the real estate pusher

So you made your decision based upon the profession of the poster.

You post has zero credibility.

EDIT: I also noticed you created your profile today and have answered one post. Is your user name bench thumper supposed to give the impression that you used to be a judge that sat on the bench and this gives you more credibility?
