Been in FL since 1983. Moved to Cape Coral in 1993 and love it here. I lived on the east coast also and loved it there, but it was much cheaper over here back then so we moved. Originally from LI.

Myfamily and I will make settlement on our brand new home in Odessa Saturday July 14th. We leave Philadelphia this Wednesday. I am both excited and scared to death! Mind you, I am not moving under the best circumstances. I am staying until mid August with 2 of my children (daughters) then moving back and renting in Philadelphia so they can graduate...one is going into 8th grade and the other will be a senior in high school...so my family will be divided for one year...it is the absolute worst way to move but my only option since I made a promise that they could graduate from their schools and my house was completed way too soon. However, the summer of 2008 I will finally be a full-time Floridian!

Sounds like you did the right thing. Congrats on being a good mom and keeping a promise to your kids, they will never forget that. There is some highly rated colleges in Fla for your 18 year old to attend !

What made you pick Odessa please?

Floridabound and Kort, thanks for the kind words of encouragement. They mean a lot. As far as how I chose Odessa, I knew I wanted a suburb of Tampa. I like the gulf side of Florida better and did not want to go south because of the potential of more damage due to hurricanes. So I looked at areas Wesley Chapel, Land o Lakes, and Odessa which kind of run one after the other. I liked all 3 areas....very family oriented, beautiful homes, good schools. Ultimately I found a community that I really liked which happened to be in Odessa and that is how I am moving there!

Great !! You are right on the same spot we are looking heavily at as well !
That is why I asked.

I admire you for keeping your promise to you kids, they are important and should always be a part of decisions like this. I know mine will be as they have a vote too !

I think you did the right thing and you will be excited to see the year go bye and get your family into your new home on Fla!

Congrats !

I've lived in this very house in St. Petersburg, FL my entire life (18 1/2 years). I think St. Pete is one of the nicest cities in Florida.

Wow, you are what they call well traveled.

So what made you decide to come back to Florida as an adult at 19-20 years old? being your now 29 and by your info above you moved from Tenn to Florida about then.

Also, which city in Florida was your fav since you have lived in allot of Fla cities please?
