That sounds an awful lot like Miami, which is why I have been trying to steer you away from areas in Dade County. The Broward and Palm Beach County attitude is totally different and much more down to earth, although once again there is still a little arrogance. It's 1:46 over here, so I will be off to bed for the night. I will be ready to answer any more questions tommorow as I added to my previous post. Good night!

When you say N. SD; what areas are you referring to?

Like Carlsbad. A little bit north of it there are some more little beach towns which are pretty cool. Oceanside is ok as well, Cardiff by the Sea is nice, too.

I have to sell my house first, so I'm going to sit on it... Florida interests me because of the diverse culture (crime concerns me), the beautiful white beaches, weather (minus hurricanes), being on the East coast (different mentality) and closer to parts of the US I've never been to. California interests me because of the weather (year around minus the overcast), beauty (mountains/cliffs), sophisticated/educated people, and closer to my family.

Are you ready to move to Vegas

Sounds like you have it down pat! The areas you are looking at in Parkland are very low crime, and so are most of the areas surrounding it, so do not let crime be a concern, consdering you came out of Vegas (relatively) unscathed!Coral Springs south of it is the 10th safest city in the United States, Coconut Creek has a very low crime rate east, Boca is not bad North, and you have everglades west. Honestly, the crime really is not that bad unless you start heading into areas that you have no reason to be in in the first place (at least in Broward, in PBC the crime situation is a lot more serious). It's a great choice overall here, but you may not find the high levels of sophistication you are looking for here versus that region, and family could end up being of higher importance than anything else. Either way, best of luck!

And as a general rule of thumb, stay west of University Drive in Broward County, and west of Millitary Trail in south Palm Beach County and you are almost guaranteed a safe and middle to upper class area. You have a vast area to pick from in Broward, and you are free of West Coast type pretentiousness here! You will meet a few snotty types in Weston and Parkland, but other than that, I think it may be what you are looking for.
yeah..there isn't a big "Starbucks"....loving crowd in Miami....lol...
