The idea of moving is scary yet exciting. We are in the same but- except we are trying to get out of Florida.

cicilyb- I could not have said it better myself. We would like to leave Naples also. Where are you looking? We are not sure if we want to leave Fl completely or move more northern FL.

I was raised by a real Christian women, and you and the original poster don't have a clue. Jesus washed leper's feet, poor people's feet, he judged no one, and he was darked skinned from the middle east.
So when you even dare mention race and religion in the same paragraph, you are offending us to the very core. And perverting Christianity in every way. So just go away and spew your hate disguised as religion somewhere else! Go live in one of those deep red states with the highest rate of divorce in the country, the highest domestic violence rates...there you can fake being a Christian with the best of them.
Another reason for negativity? Spare me, people like you and the original poster are the very definition of negativity. And don't hide behind some experience you say you had of racism from other races. Any 3 year old learns that two wrongs don't make a right. Grow up and take you head out of your rear end.

I would take my head out of there, but unfortunately, I walk tall and hold my head high. And I ask a lot of questions.
I certainly have experienced bigotry from fundamentalists when I was growing up Catholic in Florida, and crazy attempts to witness and convert me. I have also experience a lot of love and fellowship from these people - two of my mom's best friends were very traditional Southern Baptists. But that is not what the op was about. She just wanted to know where there was a home base for evangelical christians who are devout and homeschool.
I can well imagine some of what she has encountered in some school districts in Indiana which might make her want to retreat into what she thinks is a safer world. The woman has a perspective that perhaps you cannot imagine. And you missed an opportunity to share something positive with her, and maybe broaden her views. Possibly your own experiences with evangelicals are very narrow and bitter as well.
But mine are mixed. And here in NJ, my experience with homeschoolers is very positive. I didn't homeschool, but I know several families who have for many different reasons from different backgrounds - they really do get better opportunities for education in many cases, and more opportunities for diversity. And yes, when we drive down to north FL, and New Orleans, there are places where the radio doesn't pick up much except preaching. My teenage kids and I listen. We dispute. We talk back. We laugh. We look it up. We pray. And we deepen our understanding. I live in a very politically correct part of the country right now, and I find that truly oppressive.
I just don't understand why the ops post has wrought such fury. And I don't understand why you are so angry at me. It's entirely possible that she is not coming from a position of hostility, but one of retreat and desire for safety and an atmosphere more conducive to a positive and stable family life.

Just an FYI~I just checked and the OP has not returned to the site to see the answers to her questions. She was only here one time and that was the time she posted.

Interesting. Me thinks you guys just got invaded by a troll. These things happen on the politico blog sites all the time. Usually someone poses as a 'conservative' or 'liberal' and posts something controversial in order to stir up the masses.

agree
Y'all need to leave this person alone. I live in Baton Rouge, La and I can understand why she wants a mostly white community...and this is a free country. I am tired of everyone getting mad at this person! How many times have we heard that "whites"(notice we are not called Caucasian Americans)are so racist. Blacks are too! If this person wants a white community-so be it. I doubt Florida is the answer, but good luck and God Bless you in finding your home

We love Florida, and our current place of living does not have the values we consider important.
We live in Southern Indiana, have for six years, and feel that often the values do not coincide with ours.
I homeschool our kids, so schools aren't an issue. My husband is a contractor specializing in commercial building, and has no trouble usually finding work.
We're looking for a small, rural to suburban town that has the same values we do, and is mostly conservative in ideas. A nearby strong Christian (Baptist or Pentecostal) church is also needed. Honestly we'd prefer a mostly white population as well, just a personal preference. Our lives are deeply rooted in God and Jesus, so we want a place to raise our kids with less of the toxins that exist in the world.
My husband can possibly work in these towns that we are interested in.
-- Arcadia;
-- Spring Hill;
-- Inverness;
-- Lehigh Acres.
Any thoughts? Other suggestions welcome.
God Bless,
Jesi

Frankly, I stopped reading after she said she homeschooled her kids, red flag went off in my head
its ridiculous that people think they can educate their children better than the teachers, all she's doing is harming her kids in the long run

If I had kids I would home school them.

Are you a teacher? Just a wild guess there. Have you checked on exactly what has been passing for curriculum in the public schools lately??? I use to think like you, really, but now I honestly can't blame anyone for wanting something different than what passes for a public school education anymore. And curriculum aside, many public schools are just plain dangerous places to be. Even in my small town in the north I am probably going to send my children to private school to avoid the insanity that has taken over the public school system in this country.

Man, you are so distressed here. Take it easy on the lady. Didn't I just read that you were raised by a Christian woman and then you're telling someone to take their head out of their rear end? There's people of all races and religions asking here about like-minded or tolerant places to live. Maybe the people that responded to the lady didn't take the question the way you did, but that doesn't make them bad. Quakers live together for a lot of the reasons the lady asking the question was looking for, even if she was troll, or if people didn't agree with her choices. Take it easy. What would Jesus do? I know He'd try to write on a message board what He'd say to someone's face.

This thread is all over the place, insults being flung, most of it belongs in the political or religious forums and a Moderator has even posted the fact that the OP is more than likely a troll yet the arguing still continues. Time to close this one.
