I hear ya. I'm just tired of people complaining about how bad FL is all of the time. Try living in the northeast or in my case NYC. I've lived in this area (I live just outside of NYC now) all of my life and it blows. It's way too crowded and too expensive to live here anymore.

I will be living in the p section, it seems nice to me. I'm sure there are other nice areas too.

Pretty much all the sections are the same, some are older and some are
on golf courses. "L" is the farthest north, by Matanzas Woods Golf Course, it's the newest, then there's "B," close to some schools, quite a few run-down duplexes on some streets. South of Palm Coast Parkway are the "W," "R," and "E" sections on the west side of BelleTerre. Some really nice homes in the "Es." "P" section is on the east side of BelleTerre. There is a HUGE "Towne Center" going up at SR 100 & Belle Terre. (They have a website, easy to look up.) The older sections are the "F" and "C," which is much nicer and has a lot of canal-front property. At the south end of Belle Terre, there are "Z," "K" and "LL." Further south is the "S" section. Just depends on how much money you want to spend. There are a gazillion realtor websites. Every third house is for sale. I live in Flagler County, but wouldn't live in Palm Coast if you paid me. |

We lived in Palm Coast from April 1997 and moved out in August 1998. We rented to see if the area was for us. We now now live in Spring Hill in a home we had built.

I moved here from Masachusetts almost 4 yrs ago. We love it. Our property is going up every day. We moved here knowing that it was going to change. I'm always amazed when people complain about the traffic, it's NOTHING like we had up north. It is a melting pot, and I have found everyone to be so nice. I live in the R section which a lot of people think isn't very nice. However, we love it and have wonderful neighbors. Like everywhere, there are a multitude of opinions. some hate it, some love it. I say check it out, come down for awhile and see what you think. But know that it is going to change, It is growing like crazy and it is hard to keep up with EVERYTHING. But all in all, it's my home for ever.

There is growing frustration whether to have a police dept (more taxes) versus current sheriff office. Complaints about crimes in PC going unreported in order to not negatively real estate market.

Speaking of the police department in Palm Coast (Flagler County) I saw online the other day that the starting salary for police offers there is like $12.42 an hour! Pathetic. They put their lives on the line and are not compensated enough.
The paper said the other day that the average salary for that county is $29,000 per year. Ouch! |

We were looking to move to the PC area...my question is...what is the ethnic diversity like? I want to send my children (elementary school age) to a good school and not worry about them getting beat up because of who they are. We are white but currently live in a predominantly hispanic neighborhood and my daughter has had problems with other students because she's white. I really would prefer a school where she isn't the minority. Please don't call me racist because I have friends of all different races, creeds, sexual orientation, but when it comes to my children, I only want what I think is best for them. Thank you so much for any input.

Palm Coast - My in-laws moved there about 12 years ago, they love it and so do we when we visit. My husband's grandmother moved to Flagler Beach back in the late 70's and that is why in-laws knew that they would like it there. Talk about growth......everytime I visit it has new areas being built! I love it there! Some of the beaches are the most beautiful by far in FL. I recently read that the area is the fastest growning in the US???? Enjoy the weather and the friendly people.

Having said that - I found that the Palm Coast schools have more minorities in them than some other areas around here. While whites are the majority still, there is quite a percentage of minorities (I think like 30 percent in the schools I looked at). While that doesn't seem like a lot it's of concern to me because the housing is cheaper there and I think that makes it even more attractive to other minorities. If you ask me the minority population will grow there at a faster rate than other surrounding areas because of the lower cost of housing and taxes. If you want some good schools that are almost all white go a little bit further to the Daytona area. Don't think at all about putting your kids in the Daytona schools, but Ormond Beach and Port Orange both have A rated schools and they are almost all white. |
