Hello all,
I'm new to Florida and am having the usual fun of getting a new Drivers License in a new state. I need to get my Florida DL ASAP to apply for the job's that I'm seeking. I got a BOA acct and they sent me a card in the mail, problem is I still need one more piece of mail from a different financial institute etc.... to prove my address to the DMV. I don't have a lease for my apartment as it's month to month and in a private home and my utilities are paid the home owner. Any ideas on what I can do to get some mail worthy of being an address document deemed worthy by the Florida DMV as quickly as possible? I have the Bank of America stuff but I need something from one more place as well.

How about mailing something to yourself?
Or, how about getting a cell phone so you can get your bill, or at least show the receipt as proof that you live in FL.

how about the bill from your auto insurance showing your new address and a change to florida auto insurance? - i'm sure if you call the company they could fax/email a copy and hopefully dmv would accept that (chance is they might want an original and in that case, ask them what else would be acceptable as a proof of residency) - hmm, another thought - register to vote asap and see if they give you anything at the registrar's office.

The auto insurance thing is probably the easiest. If you don't have a car, I'd see if you can get a one page lease agreement from your landlord- explain that you need it to get the DL.

Mail from your auto and health insurance companies would be acceptable. Also, a final/closing bill from your previous phone and utility companies would also be acceptable.

Welcome to Florida! We just moved here in July and had our driver's licenses within the 10-day deadline.

I got it. I'll just go to another bank and open another checking acct for the minimum of $25. After I prove my residency I'll let the $ sit there for a month or so and then close the acct. I'm sure the poor bank's feelings won't get to hurt LOL.
