Sorry, but there is no such thing as bad luck, nor good luck. Bring the Shells inside, or put them outside.

I use the term, good luck sometimes, but it is only a term. God determines our destiny, not luck.

I know this is an old post, but in reply to sunrico's Q as to how large do
the conch shells need to be to use them as a horn...

They can be any size from about 5 inches or larger, but you can blow all day and not make a sound!
The tip of the shell needs to be cut off to leave a hole about the size of a dime.
And believe me, it is not easy to cut them off!
You need to blow the shell as you would blow a trumpet, it takes a little practice.

And if your shell has a slice in it where they removed the creature inside you would need to patch up the hole.
Or just start with a shell without the slice.

I look high and low to find conch shells with the tips cut off, then I decorate them with fishnet and shells.
They are used often at weddings and drum circles.
