Looking to Move to Palm Bay
Hello. I am a 38 year old single woman who is looking to make a move from the Washington DC area to Palm Bay. Why Palm Bay? The home prices seem to be reasonable for a city so near the ocean. I am looking at purchasing in a new community called Waterstone or Bayside. I realize that Palm Bay is much smaller than what I'm used to, but will I be bored there. I love community service so I hope there are opportunities to give back. Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi. I live in Palm Bay and it is a nice "country" place. I think you will be in culture shock Anything of culture is in Melbourne. It sounds like you will be moving into the "gated communities". Personally, I don't like them because I really don't like others telling me what I can do to my home and land. We live about a mile north of Bayside, 5 streets off the main road; nice and quiet. no road noise. We also have a custom home in the middle of 3 lots. No one on either side I think the web site for the city itself is www.palmbayflorida.org I hope this helps.

Rose is correct; most of the activity will be in Melbourne. However, look at a map -- Melbourne is only a couple of minutes drive from almost anywhere in Palm Bay. Palm Bay is a bedroom community for Melbourne. Melbourne is loaded with great things. They have a first rate community college with a couple of campuses, the King Center is a great performing arts center and there should be endless opportunities for you to be a volunteer in almost any activity.
Palm Bay was originally developed as Port Malabar by the General Development Corp, also the developer of Port St. Lucie, Port Charlotte and Port LaBelle. None of them are actually ports... The original area consists of thousands of building lots of approximately 10,000 square feet intended for single family homes. Like Port St. Lucie, some developers have found pockets of land to set up gated communties. Like Rose, I don't like them much; too may silly rules, and a "condo nazi" mentality of watching everything you do. On the other hand, if the rules suit you, it's a good way to insure that your neighborhood will reamin all the same.

Palm Bay
Hello I just relocated to Palm Bay about 3 months ago and I love it here. Everyone is very nice and hospitable. Coming from West Palm Beach I did not know how to welcome the warmth. It is a great place to raise or start a family. It is beautiful and there is alot to do and learn here. I love being a resident of the fastest growing city in Brevard County.

Palm Bay is a great town that can be one of the last great places to relocate in Florida. Is strategically located and is close to Melbourne and Orlando, but you don't have to deal with the traffic and other associated situations of the larger cities. As always visit the area during a week day, drive around the community, visit the local business, talk to the folks in the area, and you probably will be satisfied with Palm Bay. See link below for more info: http://www.city-data.com/city/Palm-B...ida.html:cool:

Did you move to Palm Bay?
I too will move early next year and don't know exactlly where. I will be going to FL at the end of this month and hope to drive around and see a few places. I like a quiet, near the water and not too crowded. Also, other singles to socialize too. Please reply if you move there and tell me how it is. I am also a single woman, 36 and I am very interested in your thoughts about living in Palm Bay or nearby areas. Thanks

Per SQFT this is not a bad price considering that folks are paying over $200K for less than 1,500 SQFT in the areas closed to the water. If you can PM the site, I know the area fairly good and will like to evaluate. Something does not look right..
