Thank you.
Yah and we just switched from another company that we were paying twice the amount, and that was actually half of what we paid with the even previous company. Progressive was the worst and most expensive, Unitrin Direct was half of that and now Geico is even half of Unitrin....if that makes sense.

Suncoaster will become famous soon enough
I'm surprised to read that Progressive was the worst. We've had Progressive for years and like them - when someone hit my car in a parking lot, they were right there, getting it taken care of.

I'd rather not deal with an insurance company that does both auto & property - and cancels homeowners' policies, hikes rates up the wazoo etc. I'd prefer to get my auto ins. from a company that doesn't do property.

To SKB: wow, the timing is really tricky (ins. expiring on 9/14, and your move is planned for 9/13). Is there any way you could contact an insurance company that you find satisfactory and see if they'll write your new policy before you move? I hope that will work - the last thing you need in the midst of moving is insurance stress - good luck with this.

They were the worst priced. I never really had to deal with them too much on claims but we paid outrageous rates

That is unusual. They're know to have very low rates (they deal with such volume).

I'm paying what works out to $78/mo (I pay 6 months in advance) and that's for 2 cars. We have an '04 Honda Pilot and a late 90's pickup truck. No claims (outside of a windshield, and they can't raise your rates for that), a few speeding tickets, but top-notch credit. They even recently reduced our already low rates.

SKB: You're right, a lapse would be the worst thing (I had no choice but to lapse in my case, and did not know of the consequence at the time), so I'd avoid that if at all possible. Good luck .
