Question Ft. Walton Beach

My Fiance and I will be in Ft. Walton Beach next week and need ideas on some good restaurants in the area. Any info regarding that area would be greatly appreciated. Where should we to go hang out and what areas should we avoid? Thanks!

HIgirl is on a distinguished road
Hi there - I used to live there about 4 years ago - so I do not know if these restaurants still exist:

The Thai House - Literrally it is their house. Half of it is a restaurant, the other is their house (or at least, that is what it looked like)

The Pancake House - Great breakfast place (it may have changed names)

Big Apple Bagel - for good bagels and coffee

I do not know the name of it, but there is a restaurant in "downtown" FWB which is a two-story building with its back to the ocean inlet. It across from the music/ballet conservatory or something like that. It is a nice restaurant with interesting meu items. As per my husband who was there a couple of years ago - there is also a Thai restaurant in the downtown area that is pretty good.

Also, do not miss the beaches of Destin - town east of FWB. Beautiful.

"sunrico90": I think I remember Sammy's being a strip club. Has that changed?

You will have a great time. We really miss FWB and hope to one day live there again.

Thank you so much for all the great suggestions! Especially Sunrico - you seem to know a great deal regarding the area. I have been reading this forum for quite some time and you seem to be really knowledgeable about that particular location in Florida. You always have so many positive things to say about FWB. I am so excited to go and get away for a much needed vacation! The beaches look absolutely beautiful especially in comparison to VA Beach which is where I am from!

EMERALDGIRL, the beaches are hypnotic. Once you go, you'll never want to leave. Crystal white(and I do mean white) sand that "scrunches" under your feet as you walk. Water the color of emeralds and blue sapphires--breathtaking! You can do Dolphin cruises (glass bottom boats)...deep sea fishing expeditions aboard chartered boats...visit Big Kahuna's water park...boating and sailing....wave runner rentals...scuba diving and snorkeling....parasailing...sunset cruises...and as sunrico gave many, many nightlife places. I'd suggest you go to switchboard dot com or a major search engine and search for resturants in Fort Walton Beach and Destin. Don't miss all the fresh seafood resturants on the island and in Destin... Yum Oh!
Have a great time!!

Thumbs up Destin Area Beaches

Destin is home to some of the worlds most beautiful beaches. The crystal clear water and the sugar white sands have given the Emerald Coast area a reputation as one of America's premier vacation destinations.

The beautiful waters of the Emerald Coast beaches provide sunbathers, snorkelers and fisherman with a paradise beyond words. Fishing off of the beach and jetties yields catches of Whiting, Pompano and Mackerel, while snorkeling in the same locations yields views of beautiful tropical fish and great shell collecting.

The Emerald Coasts beaches are a place of sheer enjoyment and indulgence for people of all ages.
