Still cannot figure out why people are afraid of bugs. Unless they are poisonous, bite or sting what's the big deal? The outdoors is full of them, get used to it! You can only keep them out of your home, that's all I ever could do. Outside they are abundant, right now I see 4 roaches walking around the railings of my walkway.

You people are so horrible! Now google for me!

Well, since you asked so nicely...

UF/IFAS Okeechobee Extension Service: Two-striped walkingstick

I remember seeing these things now and then as a kid when I lived out in the boonies in what is now a completely built-out suburb on the Space Coast. Until this thread, I never knew that they could squirt at you, ewww! I've never seen one over on this coast.

Smile flying roaches

I can totally relate. I hate big fat bugs. In NY we have cicadas they are horrible and make awful noise so you cannot even forget they are there for one minute. I would like to move to florida for the nice weather but want the least bubby place.

I'll never forget the first time I visited Florida, checked into the Motel 6, put my luggage down... and saw this HUGE "cockroach" scurry from behind the headboard, up the wall and behind a framed painting. The thought of turning out the lights and lying in bed with THAT in the room was more than I could take. I was checked out of that hotel within 5 minutes. Calling it an exotic name like "palmetto" doesn't make it any less disgusting.
