Thanks, guys, again, your help is really appreciated...

Sanibel looks nice, but perhaps a bit too quiet? WeŽre only 29 years old, and would really like to be able to get out having a better meal out from the house from time to time... Shopping is also a highly acclaimed sport in our family. BUT, first and foremost, we really want to visit a place where not only tourists stay. We want to improve our English and meet the "locals"...

Also, a place where our two-year-old can find some buddies to play with would also be nice of course...

We do understand that our criterias are becoming a bit specific here, but all input is highly appreciated!

WeŽll check the links you have applied.

Hmm.. Shopping, restaurants?
Naples Comes to mind (so much shopping for its size!)
Boca Raton comes to mind
Sarasota somewhat comes to mind (beware of crime, not that bad for us, but certainly by Norwegian standards).
And then there is Weston, where you can be close to the action. But its bland and boring in itself, like I say. But it might be nice to come home to that relaxing resort-y feeling and serious safety after having a little fun in Miami.
Out of all of these, the only places where he might find a lot of children is Weston and (to a limited extent) Boca Raton. Naples is mostly retirees, same with Sarasota. Boca is also an above-average age

There are plenty of restaurants in Sanibel, though, but it is quiet.
