Although life in the Carolinas, Tennessee and a few other southern states may have a lower cost of living, I question if they have the year round weather and diversity of cultural interest in the close proximity that we enjoy. Just an hour and a half to our north we have three major professional sports franchises, not to mention many entertainment venues hosting world class artists. If you enjoy the arts, Sarasota has the Van Wezel and Asolo, and for something closer to home there is the Barbara B. Mann that hosts many top line performers and Broadway shows; and let us not forget about Disney and Universal Theme parks just a little over 2 ˝ hours away. Of course there is plenty more to see on the east coast and for the truly adventurous, a quick three hour flight can put you right in the heart of New York’s Theater district on Broadway. How many states offer this diversity of interests?

Some here say they never go to concerts, the beach etc.
These are just some things that you can do here. They are just facts.
People also want to hear negative things about Florida. Well, there are negative things. Hurricanes, higher taxes, insurance problems. You will have negative things everywhere you go. You just need to know that where I am it is still very nice and affordable. We are close to alot of fun things to do.
I still think it's a great place to live.

Hey, bamboosmom. I have a question. Are you thinking on moving to Pennsylvania from Florida? I wouldnt take that move at all. My wife is originally from Florida and im from PA, and i would stay in Florida over PA anyday. Florida is such a great state with so much diversity and culture. Its got a great mixture of bigger cities with sorrounding countryside. Florida has the largest Nat'l park east of the Mississippi. I would not leave the great weather of Florida for the grey cold weather of Pennsylvania. I could think of a million reasons to stay in Florida and not move to PA.

Been thinking about staying! The weather has been calm so far this season and now I have a wonderful Walmart 5 min. from the house which makes me happy!!! My gardens are beautiful right now and I put so much into them.
The house is better than new...hmmm I think we're gonna stay!

That's great news...you can also buy like a little place up in PA to visit your family in the summertime & then enjoy the winters down here - maybe, build an addition for them to visit in the wintertime. Ohhh...& you can't leave your kitties behind....they are part of your landscape like those plastic flamingo's people put up, ha, ha..
