Must be cold and snowy in that state! Seems like most of the warm southern states are struggling except Texas!

There are worse things in life than cold and snow. It doesn't go forever.

However people having to work two low paying jobs in FL to just scrape by is. The saying down here is "they pay you in sunshine". Well sunshine doesn't pay the mortgage or put food on the table.

FL is ok for retired people who have their pensions and investments. Not so good for working people with families.

The COL keeps increasing while the salaries remain low.

That is why I asked if they were bringing that income with them or looking for a job at that income level. Most jobs down here don't pay what they do other places, but that also depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from NYC and expecting the same rate, that will probably not happen. If you are coming from a small town in Alabama, the pay may be the same or higher. With them coming from MI (IIRC), the pay rates down here will probably be lower.

Now we are getting somewhere.

There will be quite a few choices now that we know where you will be moving to.

I would post in the Tampa and Orlando forums since Plant City is in between the two. Either way you will need to watch commute issues. You may need to relax your beach requirement also.

I would imagine 100K would go pretty far in Plant City.

Plant City is smack dab in the middle of the state, not near a beach. If you want low crime stay away from Lakeland.

Auburndale, Lake Alfred or Dade City perhaps? You'll still have a commute from those towns but I'd steer clear of actually living in Plant City or Lakeland. Tampa has become an armpit of a city, sadly. Brandon and Seffner aren't too good either.
