Hello.
My wife and I are nurses and live actually in Puerto Rico. The problem with our jobs are the salary, a really mess. we want to know the kind of life that we can live moving to Florida. we are RN and for example my salary is 5.76 p/h. Some people told us that a nurse salary in Florida is about 25- 35 p/h. if you know about the situation, please let us know. thanks

depending on where you work and how many years experience you have you can expect around about the bottom figure you mentioned..... $21-25 but then it depends on which shift you are on aswell and whether you do weekends as you get differential pay on top of that too.

Thanks Suelip. I think that 21 p/h is more than 5.76. right now I got my own web designer company, because the salary as a nurse in the island is terrible. when I was in the hospital my number of patient were 18, some people tell me that in USA you only work with 6 to 8 patient, and here you don't have assistant to help you. Thanks for your reply

how many years have you been a nurse?

yes i work nights (7p-7a) and the maximum patients I have at night is 8. Our hospital has a union and they make sure we dont go over. If I am shift leader the maximum I get 7 patients. However in the busy season (October-April) the usual maximum I get at night is 6.

On days it usually between 4-5 patients and evenings it is 5-6 patients.. it is different for all hospitals and the number increases for Long term facility and nursing homes.

I have 5 years experience as a nurse in medical surgery area and my wife works 5 years in maternity and the las 3 years she has been working in a dialysis center, 8 years of experience. We want to move to the Ocala area. I was there in June on vacation and some friends told us that the new Veteran Hospital in Florida is going to be located in Ocala. The cost of life in the island is too high to live with a miserable salary. I'm going to take the assistant nurse test in September to star quickly and start to prepare myself to the Nclex. Can you tell me please the salary of an assistant nurse.
and by the way thanks for your help

Do you mean a Certified Nursing Assistant? I am not sure but I think they earn up to about $10 an hour maybe a bit less depending on where you are employed.

for more help and answers go to Nursing and go to the forums there - you will find loads of info there on different areas of nursing and different parts of the country too....
