well, they will claim it's their duty to warn the rest of us how horrible the state is, because they're so concerned for our welfare

I'm a native Floridian. Raised in south Florida. Moved to PA, lived in Japan for a while, came back to PA. First chance I got I moved back to Florida. Lived in Central Florida for about 10 years. Moved to middle TN (just outside of Nashville) loved it, but the first chance we got we moved back to Florida. Lived in Central Florida again for almost 10 years, moved to East TN. Don't like it, and currently have our house on the market, and we are moving...

guess where.....BACK TO FL.

Too funny. We were just down there visiting some family and my husband and I have realized that it's the skies. The constant movement, the beautiful shade of blue, the afternoon rains. We miss it so much.

We know that there are a lot of negative things being said about Florida but you make it what you make it. When you love a place, you are content and happy which goes a long way in life.

We aren't going to move back to where we were, we are looking at Lakeland, Oviedo area (a little too pricey), we've looked into North Port but finally crossed that one off the list. We can live where ever we can afford, it's mainly about schools and nice areas that have a safe, community feel to them. We both work from home so we just need a nice neighborhood close to good schools. Seems easy but it's not. :? I love this forum for all the info it contains, it's been wonderful for us.

We use to live in Fort Myers. We currently live in Nashville, TN. We left the area at the top of the housing bubble and cashed in. Also, we like the arts a great deal and Fort Myers was pretty dry for that. We miss the winters the most and are looking at moving back. This time we are looking a little north in the Tampa area.

This is always one of my favorites. Well lessee. Since you asked and all:

-Today I posted at work in the morning
-Popped on at lunch and posted some
-Now in the evening at home I'm burning a bunch of music CDs and am passing time here.

I come here to offer advice on what I left AND where I went as well as a bunch of other political forums and such.

Really it's cool if you'd take the time to look they have more than just a Florida Forum here and it really only takes a second to jump from one to the other so it's really not some "big waste of time" or anything compared to the marvelous public service that you provide by posting here...

What's you're excuse living in "paradise" and all where life is just one constant sunrise or sunset over a sparkling ocean???

I left Clearwater (Tampa area) for Seattle, WA in June of 2005. Beautiful summers in Seattle- no question- but the 9 months of dreary, dark, cold, rainy, utterly DEPRESSING weather are NOT worth staying here for the summer. I miss the people in florida, the weather- everything. I don't regret moving to Seattle and admit I was very anti-Florida when I left, but now I can't wait to get back to Florida!

Thanks everyone for your input, it is so nice to know that there are so many people who have lived there and either miss it and or cannot wait to get back.

Personally, I miss it and dont even live there ( YET ) , although I do spend 3-4weeks vacation in Florida every year and on business at least once per month, I miss it when me and the family are heading north on ourlast vacation of the summer in August before school starts knowing that the dreary cold winter is approaching.

Great stories....

Seattle, last time I was there on business I couldnt wait to leave, it rained 4 days in a row and my sinus headaches never went away. Pretty town, but how did you handle all that rain?

Gosh, you have had a couple list that we have added to taken away many cities with our 2 week trip end of May looking around.

We have not made a final decision because we want to spend allot more time in the cities on our list before we decide in alittle less then 2 years. I will not move until I have spent a considerable amount of time in that city. Not to say we wont jump on a great buy on a property if it is even close to our region...

Now is a ocean front propery comes up on Siesta Key or Anna Maria Island that is an absolute steal, we will be all over it !!

I can tell you that on top of the list is the REGION north of Tampa, like Land O Lakes, Odessa, Wesley Chapel etc. as well as REGIONS around Sarasota, Port Charlotte and a few others.

We really love allot of cities but there are many factors in our decision, we love the gulf side beaches, antiques, etc and that eliminated some of our favorite visiting cities like Ft Lauderdale, Ft Myers, Destin/FWB

Really dont have it down to a science yet, allot of things can change in 2 years so we got our eyes and ears open and listen to people who live in those areas as well, both on this board, another board I post on and in person.

Thanks for asking, but the list goes up and down with more information. We really like the regions menitoned above but that could change.
