Well, I have been here for over 3 weeks now and I cant believe how different the weather is here! LOL, it rains every single day!
I dont mind it a bit though!!But everyday, in the afternoon usually, it just pours! So is this considered the rainy season? And when does it start to rain less? I am just curious about the weather patterns here. ![]() Jen |

Usually by October, the daily rains will have subsided considerably. Depending on the El Nino, and La Nina status of any particular year will dictate if it continues raining during the winter months. I remember about 10 years ago (1997) I think, when El Nino was lurking, the month of December was nonstop rain. That was not normal at all. It is quite normal though to go months without any rain at all. Here in Sarasota, it just started raining daily a week or two ago. We hadn't had any real meaningful rain here in months.

Actually, this is the typical summertime (June through September) pattern for Florida. Before the drought, and then the crazy couple of years of hurricanes, it just basically would pour down rain from about 3:00 in the afternoon to about 5:00, give or take. This would happen every day, you could just about set your watch by it.
We love the rains! It really cools things down in the afternoon. Just when you don't think it can get any hotter, the rains come - Ahhhhhhhh. |

I remember the days when i could pin point time based on the rain. 4pm was the time, every day from June throught October. Not so much now, this year is really dry and rain comes and goes whenever it wishes. The only way i like the rain is IN THE AFTERNOON, it cools the air off. Rains in the morning are horirble, you can be sure it's going to be HUMID through the day. Yuck!!

Trying to predict rain by using the radar picture doesn't work as we have winds off the gulf or winds off the atlantic colliding with air in the center. Been here too long to depend on weather forecasters, best to use the statements above, rain almost daily from June to Oct. One thing that is good here is that if it is raining wait and it will be gone in 45 minutes, and you can still have a perfect day.
