Default Relocating from Staten Island, NY to New Smyrna Beach, FL

Hello Everyone,

We are closing any day this month and will be moving into our townhouse in New Smyrna Beach and are not sure what services we will need once we move there..

Here in Staten Island, we have:

1. Cable+phone+internet - 1 bundle package
2. Water
3. Gas
4. Electric

I am not sure what companies we need to contact once we move there to hook up services. Please assist any way you can. Thank you in advance.

I would recommend getting letters from each of your utility providers there stating your financial past with them. It could assist in avoiding paying downpayments (security deposits) on services.

We too have Cable/phone/internet packages. I do not know who services NSB, but probably Brighthouse. Contact them on line to set up your service.

I would do a Google search on NSB to determine who the other providers are.

Good luck on your move.

Wink Welcome to the Area

Here is a link to the Relocation Guide published by the SE Volusia Chamber of Commerce:

Here is a link to establish your new Electric/Water Services:

Your realtor should also be able to provide you with this info as well, without you scrambling around to find it on a blog page by yourself .

Hope you're polishing up on your June Cleaver skills (esp baking), moving to Smalltown USA, where Stepford Wives Rule.

Also, highly recommend reading these books to transition your culture shock moving to the Deep South and being blind-sided in social/government/business interactions:
Deer Hunting w/ Jesus by Joe Bageant
Amazon.com: Deer Hunting with Jesus: Dispatches from America's Class War (9780307339362): Joe Bageant: Books
Slavery by Another Name by Douglas Blackmon
Amazon.com: Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II (9780385506250): Douglas A. Blackmon: Books
(After you finish this book, visit the Greek Museum in St Augustine for your city history)

Welcome &
Good Luck!

Thank you for the helpful advice. I also need to ask, since we are taking a plane there, will there be any problem with bring out family pet kitten. I do not have any adoption papers for him or such other than taking him to the vet regularly. I'm worried if we have a problem, they may not let us bring him and he is a loved family member to us.
