This is absolutely disgusting and the fact that this is even being considered makes me sick. I'll let the stories speak for themselves. Please go to Jack Nicklaus' website or fanpage and let them know how you feel about this idea.

Assuming that the opinion piece and the Miami Herald piece are factually correct, this is a perfect example of what drives me crazy about politicians who become corrupt by power, access, and the notion that public funds don't need to be handled as a precious resource.

Contacting Nicklaus isn't the answer. Contact the reps.

Y'all were the one who voted for the guy(s) with an agenda to sell state resources to the highest bidder.

They aren't talking about selling anything. They want to pay $2.5M to Jack to design and build golf courses on public land.

Guess those politicians need to set aside a few hours and watch the National Park Series from Ken Burns. Doing anything like that defeats the purpose of why the NPS was created in the first place. What idiots!

The National Parks are not Disney World!

Have you looked at the percentages on that poll? The overwhelming majority oppose it! Too bad the people don't seem to have much of a say anymore.

I'm sure the argument will be that golf is a huge industry in Florida and Jack is probably the best known golfer/designer of all time. They'll argue that they are making top-notch quality golf available to the public and that the courses will be self-sustaining. I have the same issue with this as I do for all unneeded government spending. Not now! Later...maybe when we are financially stronger but not now and not if they are given environmental exemptions that other developers must deal with.
