pianogal, just curious. Is your loan with Countrywide by any chance? Balboa is a subsidiary of Countrywide.

The insurance on it is actually cheaper than the insurance on our old home which was only 1800 square feet.

HOWEVER, we were recently notified that our current company (Balboa) will no longer be writing policies in the state of Florida as of January 1, 2007. So we will be looking. Would appreciate any recommendations. We are in Orlando.

Just looked up USAA...here is a quote from CNN's website:

USAA. The 7th largest homeowners insurance company in the nation. Available in every state to the military community only.
Hi, I just got a notice from the agent stating travelers will not renew my policy for 2007. I live in wesley chapel. I heard all of pasco is in trouble.

I have had them for 8 years, they also have my car and flood insurance.

oh bye the way 2000 are in the same boat I am, he told me.

Is that off Bruce B Downs Blvd? 5,800 that sounds way high.

Mine went from 750.00 in 2000 then 1360.00 in 2005 and 2006, no hurricanes and now its gone up to 3006.00. I live in Tampa. We have no choice but to pay it, thier is no competion and in order to have a mortgage I have to have it, or the mortgage company will find one for me and it will be higher. I live in Tampa, my mother and sister both had the same kind of increases.

Do you, your mother and sister have hurricane shutters? Have you filed numerous claims in the past? Has your home been built after the 2002 hurricane building codes? Do you live in a flood zone? Have you raised the deductible? Try Fidelity National. No increases the last two years.

I called almost every where, this house I live in was built in 1954 and I knew the previous owner, she never filed a claim and neither have I. My Mom has lived in her house for 35 years and has filed one claim, a robbery. My sister would have filed a claim on one of the last hurricanes but her deductible was so high she didn't bother. My neigbors insurance is 1300.00 and I called her insurance company and they no longer write new policies, thats what I, my mother and sister have run into. I do not have hurricane shutters, house was well built in 1955. The kicker is Citizens is saying my house is valued at 225,000 and a wood shed, that needs to be torn down, is valued at 13,000. I would stick a for sale sign outside now, if I could get 225,000. My daughter lives in Melbourne Beach in a small townhouse and her insurance is 8400.00. It is near the beach so its sort of understandable, but still? I am going to try Fidelity National and will keep you posted. Thank-you
