My husband and I are going to relocate to Florida mid September.

We would like to live below the "imaginary freeze line", in a city with population of 30-100k people.

Would like minimum amount of traffic and be within 20min of a beach.

Would like to rent 2 bedroom for under 1000 month.

Is this possible? If so where?

Thanks in advance.

Venice or Englewood comes to mind here in Southern Sarasota County. You could probably find a place here in Sarasota for $1k/mo but you'd have to look really hard.

I agree with the above, but not quite large enough. How about Port Saint Lucie? The traffic is also beyond exaggerated in South Florida, except for maybe in Miami. I just did rush hour yesterday, and truthfully, I had no traffic. The drivers were maniacs, but I didn't sit in traffic! I live in the brunt of congested South Florida you could say, but it's too expensive here. I would go PSL.

"Southern Florida, without heavy traffic"? I consulted with a few friends of mine,...you can learn of their response here

I'd have to disagree with the above post. My reasons why are as follows:

1. Heavy traffic on roads not equipped for it. Up to 8 months out of the year the population of the Venice area grows. Sometimes it triples (if not quadruples) to well over 100,000 people. A major road, US 41 is under constant widening, but this construction adds to congestion. A major north/south route, River Road, is congested and only two lanes. It has been the sight of many bad accidents. That said there are also a great many older people who should not have their licenses. (Sad but true.) They often cause major tie ups, delays and accidents. A few of these people like to mix their medications with some wine at dinner...

2. As for finding anything around 1000K per month for a 2 bedroom, there may be one or two, but they are few and far between, and it's just not the norm around here. To get more of a chance at a 2 bedroom in a decent area in Venice, you would have to bump up your budget a couple of hundred dollars.

Good luck to you.

North Port in Sarasota County. You can find a new home 3/2/2 for under $1000. 20 minutes to the beach, less to I-75. Nestled between Port Charlotte and Sarasota. Check out the sun-herald.com or heraldtribune.com classified as well as craigslist.org

Enjoy your move!
