Default Organic food? Good Places to shop?

Does anyone know where there are good places to shop for organic food in north Florida? There doesnt seem to be a Whole Foods place up here.
Publix has a decent selection, but I am wondering if there are any small organic farms or anything like that where you can buy things also?

Whole Foods is coming to Jax (they're going to start in Mandarin, on San Jose Blvd - Southside of the city).

We also have a locally owned health food store that's really good - Native Sun. They have 2 locations, both are good, but the new one is the better of the two (it's on Baymeadows Road just off of 9A - also Southside of the city). This probably the closest thing to Whole Foods until later this year when they open here:

http://www.nativesunjax.com/

Then we have the Farmer's Markets - the big one is the one on Beaver Street (NorthWest part of city):
http://www.jaxfarmersmarket.com/

The other market is only open on Fridays, it's off Hemming Plaza downtown:

http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/...65&fromadmin=1

Lots of other little places where you can get produce outside of the stores (The Beach Blvd Flea Mkt for one).

Hope that helps .

Default Why would you drive to Jax?

Don't know what you mean by "Organic," since that's such a sham /misnomner anyway. There's Love Foods on Williamson off SR 40 (Granada) in Ormond Beach for serious vegans.
There's a great little farmer's stand in Hastings. Farmer's market in Flagler Beach on Fridays, maybe Saturdays, too. Also roadside stands along 11. You're in potato & cabbage country. The logo for Flagler County is a potato .
I go to Harris' for tomatoes, bread & chicken.

Thanks for the list Sunrico .

Native Sun wasn't listed, but it's the kind of place you can go to and they'll consistently have even obscure organic produce like Burdock Root (love it !).

That was probably Native Sun (the original location) .

Next time you visit, try the new location on Baymeadows & 9A - it's even better, and much bigger, than the San Jose location .

Not trying to say anything bad about organic foods as I am seriously into healthy foods, but how do you know the foods in publix are organic? Because they say so?

As a case in point of what's going on in the food and drink world, Pepsi is disclosing this week on the labels of their water that the source is TAP.

Coca cola will be doing the same.

But we all knew soda companies used tap water, didn't we ? Even flavored seltzer water is just tap water with bubbles .

Agreed, there are somewhat differing definitions of "organic", but one thing they all share in common is that they do not use chemical pesticides - and that is a big difference from "regular" produce .

The way to tell if a product is organic is to check if it is USDA Certified.
